Change Your Lifestyle And Get Healthy, Bermudians Urged – Royal Gazette https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/change-your-lifestyle-and-get-healthy-bermudians-urged-royal-gazette/ Updated: Sep 28, 2022 09:22 PM Getting the message out: a Carnival Ready Health Extravaganza at Victoria Park in Hamilton aimed at tackling lifestyle-related health problems (Photograph by Jonathan Bell) A festive afternoon of music and entertainment in Hamilton’s Victoria Park came with a serious message aimed at tackling the island’s “epidemic” of disease strongly linked to lifestyle choices. Celebrating Wellness, now in its 11th year, was part of the continuing Move More Bermuda campaign, health minister Kim Wilson told the gathering. Healthy eating and active living can combat the island’s ranking as the third highest for diabetes among the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development countries, with more than 13 per cent of residents diagnosed. Ms Wilson added: “Fifty per cent of residents have at least one chronic condition such as diabetes, heart or kidney disease. “One in three residents has high blood pressure and/or high cholesterol, and 75 per cent of adults are overweight or obese. “Many of these diseases are strongly related to lifestyle factors such as poor diet, physical inactivity and smoking.” She said the Carnival Ready Health Extravaganza encouraged people to get “carnival ready”, or to simply reach an optimal quality of life through healthy choices. “Simple actions like increasing our intake of local produce, reading labels of processed foods to make informed decisions and scheduling regular exercise will drastically improve our health and quality of life,” Ms Wilson said. On hand to spread the message were groups including Furbert’s Vertical Gardening, the Bermuda Diabetes Association, the Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute, the Bermuda Jump Rope Federation, Bermuda Gymnastics Association and the Bermuda Red Cross.

NFL Week 4 Injuries: Tua Tagovailoa Jaylen Waddle Questionable; Christian McCaffrey Misses Practice CBS Sports
NFL Week 4 Injuries: Tua Tagovailoa Jaylen Waddle Questionable; Christian McCaffrey Misses Practice CBS Sports
NFL Week 4 Injuries: Tua Tagovailoa, Jaylen Waddle Questionable; Christian McCaffrey Misses Practice – CBS Sports https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/nfl-week-4-injuries-tua-tagovailoa-jaylen-waddle-questionable-christian-mccaffrey-misses-practice-cbs-sports/ Another week, another list of notable NFL players whose health statuses are the topic of major conversation. Dak Prescott kicked things off earlier in the week when he did not rule out playing this Sunday after having the stitches removed from his surgically repaired thumb. Prescott is itching to get back on the field after watching teammate and backup Cooper Rush lead the Cowboys to a pair of wins over the past two weeks.  Prescott isn’t the only notable player who is dealing with an injury. Christian McCaffrey sat out Panthers practice nursing a thigh injury. Tua Tagovailoa’s status for Miami’s Thursday night game in Cincinnati remains in question after he was injured during this past Sunday’s dramatic win over Buffalo. Keenan Allen is hoping to play for the first time since injuring his hamstring in the Chargers’ season-opener. Jets fans are hoping that Zach Wilson get make his season debut this Sunday in Pittsburgh, where Steelers fans are keeping their fingers crossed that Minkah Fitzpatrick can play after entering the concussion protocol.  Here’s a look at each of those injuries as well as every other significant injury entering the NFL‘s fourth week of the regular season.  Dolphins at Bengals (Thursday night)  Dolphins: TE Cethan Carter (concussion), TE Hunter Long (ankle) OUT; OT Terron Armstead (toe), CB Xavien Howard (groin/glute), S Brandon Jones (chest), QB Tua Tagovailoa (back/ankle), WR Jaylen Waddle (groin), DT Raekwon Davis (knee), WR Ced Wilson (ribs/toe) QUESTIONABLE Bengals: DT D.J. Reader (knee), TE Drew Sample (knee) OUT; OT La’el Collins (back), LB Germaine Pratt (knee) QUESTIONABLE  The Dolphins have a myriad of injuries this week to be wary of. Their left tackle, Armstead, is questionable with a toe injury, and two wide receivers, Waddle and Wilson, are questionable as well. Both were limited participants Tuesday and Wednesday, which bodes well for their statuses tomorrow night. The headline of course is Tagovailoa, who is dealing with back and ankle issues. While he’s officially listed as questionable, he did say Wednesday that he plans to play, and he was limited in the final two practice sessions. The star cornerback, Howard, was limited Tuesday and Wednesday as well with groin and glute issues.  Reader and Sample did not practice at all this week for the Bengals, so them being ruled out for Thursday night is not surprising. Cincy will certainly want its right tackle, Collins, in the starting lineup. He sat out of practice Monday and Tuesday but returned as a full participant Wednesday — which bodes well for his status. As for Pratt, he was a full participant in the final two practice sessions after being limited Monday.  Vikings at Saints (London) Vikings: Cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. (quad), running back Dalvin Cook (shoulder), fullback C.J. Ham (foot) and pass-rusher Za’Darius Smith (knee) did not practice Wednesday for the Vikings. Linebacker Eric Kendricks (toe) and safety Harrison Smith (concussion) were also listed on the injury report, but they were full participants.   Saints: QB Jameis Winston did not practice Wednesday, as he has been dealing with back and ankle injuries, but he is expected to practice on Thursday. Receivers Michael Thomas (toe) and Jarvis Landry (ankle) did not practice along with offensive guard Andrus Peat (concussion), while running back Alvin Kamara (rib) was limited. Cornerback Paulson Adebo (ankle), defensive end Marcus Davenport (shoulder), defensive back J.T. Gray (shoulder), wide receiver Deonte Harty (foot), wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith (concussion), tight end Taysom Hill (rib) and safety Marcus Maye (rib) were limited participants.  Browns at Falcons  Browns: Myles Garrett did not practice Wednesday as he continues to recover from Monday’s single-car accident. Garrett, who suffered minor injuries during the crash, has not been ruled out for Sunday’s game. Offensive guard Joel Bitonio (biceps), defensive tackle Taven Bryan (hamstring), defensive end Jadeveon Clowney (ankle), offensive tackle Joe Haeg (concussion), linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (groin) and cornerback Denzel Ward (back/ribs) did not practice Wednesday, either. Offensive tackle Jack Conklin was limited with a knee injury. Falcons: Cordarrelle Patterson was the only Falcons player who did not practice Wednesday. Atlanta’s dual threat was given the day off to rest his injured knee.  Bills at Ravens Bills: For the Bills, defensive tackle Jordan Phillips (hamstring), offensive guard Ryan Bates (concussion) cornerback Christian Benford (hand), offensive tackle Dion Dawkins (illness) and wide receiver Jake Kumerow (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. Defensive tackle Ed Oliver (ankle), tight end Dawson Knox (back/hip), safety Jordan Poyer (foot), wide receiver Gabe Davis (ankle), cornerback Dane Jackson (neck), cornerback Cam Lewis (forearm/knee), center Mitch Morse (elbow) and offensive tackle Justin Murray (foot) were limited participants. No doubt about it, the Bills are banged-up.  Ravens: The Ravens that missed Wednesday’s practice session for medical reasons were pass-rusher Justin Houston (groin), offensive tackle Patrick Mekari (ankle) and nose tackle Michael Pierce (biceps). Running back J.K. Dobbins was limited with a chest injury. Maybe the headline of Baltimore’s injury report Wednesday was that offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley was a full participant with his ankle injury.  Commanders at Cowboys  Commanders: Four Washington offensive linemen either didn’t practice or practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday. Tackle Charles Leno (shoulder) and center Wes Schweitzer (concussion) did not practice, while Saahdiq Charles (shoulder) and Sam Cosmi (knee) were limited.   Cowboys: Star quarterback Dak Prescott again did not practice due to his right thumb injury. Safety Jayron Kearse (knee), defensive lineman DeMarcus Lawrence (foot), offensive lineman Connor McGovern (ankle) and tight end Dalton Schultz (knee) were limited participants on Wednesday. If you were wondering about wide receiver Michael Gallup, he was a full participant with his ACL injury. He is nearing his season debut.   Seahawks at Lions Seahawks: Analysis to come.  Lions: The Lions were missing many players at practice on Wednesday. Among them were linebacker Chris Board (knee), defensive end John Cominsky (wrist), tight end T.J. Hockenson (foot), offensive guard Jonah Jackson (finger), wide receiver Josh Reynolds (ankle), kicker Austin Seibert (right groin), wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) and running back D’Andre Swift (ankle/shoulder). Wide receiver D.J. Chark was limited with an ankle injury.  Chargers at Texans Chargers: Chargers coach Brandon Staley announced Wednesday that pass rusher Joey Bosa will be placed on injured reserve as he is dealing with a groin injury. Bosa, who will undergo surgery, is expected to return at some point this season. Wide receiver Keenan Allen (hamstring), quarterback Justin Herbert (ribs), cornerback J.C. Jackson (ankle), center Corey Linsley (knee) and tight end Donald Parham (hamstring) were limited participants on Wednesday. Texans: For Houston, defensive tackle Maliek Collins (knee), offensive tackle Austin Deculus (ankle), defensive lineman Kurt Hinish (foot), tight end Brevin Jordan (ankle) and linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin (back) did not practice on Wednesday. Linebacker Blake Cashman (hip), running back Dameon Pierce (hip), cornerback M.J. Stewart (hip) and cornerback Isaac Yiadom (thigh) were limited participants.   Titans at Colts  Titans: The Titans had several starters miss practice on Wednesday, as wide receiver Treylon Burks (illness), linebacker Zach Cunningham (elbow), safety Amani Hooker (concussion) and tight end Austin Hooper (neck) sat out. Pass-rusher Ola Adeniyi (neck), cornerback Kristian Fulton (knee) and wide receiver Kyle Phillips (shoulder) were limited.   Colts: The Colts have some injuries worth keeping an eye on this week. Star running back Jonathan Taylor missed his first-ever NFL practice with a toe issue. Joining him as inactive on Wednesday were safety Julian Blackmon (ankle), defensive tackle DeForest Buckner (elbow), cornerback Stephon Gilmore (hamstring), center Ryan Kelly (knee) and defensive end Yannick Ngakoue (back). Offensive tackle Bernhard Raimann was limited with an ankle injury as well, but what was really good news for the Colts was that Shaquille Leonard was a full participant with his back issue. Bears at Giants Bears: Bears running back David Montgomery did not practice on Wednesday due to ankle/knee injuries, and how he progresses through the week will be something to watch. Linebacker Matthew Adams (hamstring), safety Dane Cruikshank (hamstring) and cornerback Jaylon Johnson (quad) also did not practice. Tight end Ryan Griffin (Achilles), wide receiver Velus Jones Jr. (hamstring) and linebacker Roquan Smith (quad) were limited participants.  Giants: Sterling Shepard (knee) did not practice, which was expected as he is slated to go on injured reserve after tearing his ACL in Monday’s loss to the Cowboys. Fellow wideout Wan’Dale Robinson also did not practice on Wednesday as he is dealing with a hamstring injury. Defensive lineman Leonard Williams (knee), linebacker Jihad Ward (knee), wide receiver Kadarius Toney (hamstring) cornerback Nick McCloud (hamstring) and cornerback Cordale Flott (calf) also did not practice on Wednesday. Cornerback Justin Layne (concussion) and Aaron Robinson (appendix) were limited participants.  Jaguars at Eagles Jaguars: The Jaguars had just a couple of names on their Wednesday injury report, as offensive guard Cole Van Lanen did not practice with a hamstring injury, and cornerback Shaquill Griffin w...

Metaverse Stocks: How To Invest In The Top 5 Companies In Virtual Worlds – BeInCrypto https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/metaverse-stocks-how-to-invest-in-the-top-5-companies-in-virtual-worlds-beincrypto/ Metaverse stocks: The metaverse is fast becoming the most anticipated technological development of our generation. The emerging technology is still many years away from being a widespread mainstream success. Yet investors are already seeking opportunities to invest in this brave new interconnected digital landscape, says Rebecca Barnatt-Smith. The sheer volume of computational power required to fuel the metaverse, and its reliance on virtual and augmented reality, has paved the way for many existing stocks to stand as key beneficiaries in a Web3 environment. But where can wise investments be made on Wall Street? Top 5 Deep Dive Let’s take a deeper look into five of the most exciting metaverse stocks available to invest in today, and how each company could grow:  Metaverse stocks #1: Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) Firstly, let’s explore a company that could play an essential role in powering the metaverse. Nvidia’s graphics cards and data center chips are best positioned to bring the metaverse to life by delivering the computational power required for individuals to interact with one another within a sprawling digital environment.  Crucially for investors, we’re already seeing Nvidia graphics cards powering Meta Platforms’ AI Research SuperCluster (RSC) supercomputer. The company hopes to create a framework for handling the metaverse’s processing requirements.  The stock itself has slipped following a blistering 2021. But NVDA’s strong rebound from its Q2 2022 bottom shows that investor confidence in the stock remains strong.  The company has a strong relationship with Meta, a company hell-bent on building into the metaverse. Nvidia’s strong hand comes from the scale of the task at hand in powering the new Web3 landscape in a way that can cater to all users. According to estimates from Intel, the successful rtttttt of the metaverse would require a 1,000x increase in the computing capacity commonly available today.  It’s this requirement for the introduction of more processing hardware that’s likely to provide Nvidia with a golden opportunity for strong growth as the development of the metaverse gathers pace.  Metaverse stocks #2: Unity Software (NYSE: U) Much like Nvidia, Unity Software is set to be another key player when it comes to powering the metaverse. The company specializes in enabling game developers to create high-quality graphical content that can operate on a cross-platform basis. This can bring together users based on computers, smartphones, games consoles, and VR hardware.  Significantly, Unity had a 61% market share of the gaming market by the end of 2021. This makes the company’s stock performance throughout much of the year unsurprising. Unity has been impacted by the tech stock sell-offs of 2022. But the stock’s proximity to the gaming sector is likely to make it a trailblazer as Web3 develops.  It is thought that the company’s software has been incorporated into the development of more than 60% of the world’s 3D content to date. This can be significant for not only game designers but also metaverse development studios like BORN, which can use the technology to render vast 3D creations in the metaverse for its clients.  Today, Unity is working on a number of platforms like Insomniac Events in order to generate new metaverse worlds. With key industry figures like the Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, claiming that the “metaverse is essentially creating games,” it’s likely that Unity will play a central role in the landscape’s development.  Metaverse stocks #3: Roblox (NYSE: RBLX) Roblox has built a reputation as an early iteration of the metaverse. As a gaming company, social network, and content creation platform, the stock incorporates many of the foundations of the metaverse as we know it today. Furthermore, Roblox’s market cap of $41.9 billion at the time of its 2021 NYSE listing shows that the company is already a metaverse star in the eyes of Wall Street.  Significantly, Roblox has become a leading entertainment hub, with 3D concerts for leading artists like Lil Nas X, and David Guetta among many others. At the time of writing, Roblox has hosted more than 24 million 3D experiences for users to involve themselves in.  We can also see strong evidence of growth for Roblox. In Q4 2021, Roblox counted 49 million active daily users on average, representing a 33% increase from the same time last year. Should the platform build on its growth, it could become the world’s metaverse of choice in the future.  Metaverse stocks #4: Snap (NYSE: SNAP) The artist formerly known as Snapchat may be acknowledged as a social media giant in its own right. But the company has been making waves in the field of augmented reality throughout recent years.  In fact, SNAP’s AR investments are generating healthy levels of growth within the platform. They could form an intricate bond with the metaverse as the technology leans further on the development of augmented reality.  Despite 2022 being a tough time for Snap’s stock market fortunes, 250 million of its users used the platform’s AR tools during Q1 2022. Accompanying Snap’s famous Lenses tool will soon be a fully-fledged pair of AR glasses which may become a precursor to metaverse compatible eyewear.  Metaverse stocks #5: Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) MSFT stock is performing exceptionally well, despite widespread tech sell-offs in comparison to some of its counterparts on this list. Whilst this may mean that there are fewer opportunities to pick up discounted stock, this blue-chip company has proven time and again that it can keep up with new innovations.  In early 2022, Microsoft announced the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, a leading gaming firm. The $70 billion deal provides access to Activision’s gaming titles like the wildly popular ‘Call of Duty.’ Furthermore, Microsoft will be capable of marketing to Activision’s seismic 390 million monthly users.  The company has made no secret of the fact that it views gaming as an intrinsic part of the development of the metaverse. In this acquisition, we can see a clear play by Microsoft to emerge as a leader in metaverse-based games.  Microsoft is also actively working to utilize its HoloLens as a means of creating mixed reality spaces for Teams. Microsoft has a rich history for innovation, and it seems certain that the company will be front and center of metaverse developments, if its recent market movements are anything to go by.  Tips for investors For investors, it’s essential to continually research the metaverse companies that they are thinking to add to their portfolios. The space is still very much in its formative stages and things can change quickly.  With this in mind, no metaverse stock is certain for long-term growth. However, with the right level of metaverse exposure, investors are likely to benefit significantly from the space’s winners over time.  About the author Rebecca Barnatt-Smith is a freelance journalist and multi-media marketing executive, interested in the future of the metaverse and what it could mean for investors. The Coolest James Bond Car Ever Just Sold For Over $3 Million DMARGE
The Coolest James Bond Car Ever Just Sold For Over $3 Million DMARGE
The Coolest James Bond Car Ever Just Sold For Over $3 Million – DMARGE https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/the-coolest-james-bond-car-ever-just-sold-for-over-3-million-dmarge/ The James Bond series is famous for its cool cars, particularly the Aston Martin DB5… And now the coolest DB5 ever made has just sold – for a serious figure. Famed British auction house Christie’s and EON Productions are currently an amazing auction event called Sixty Years of James Bond: an official two-part charity sale celebrating the 60th anniversary of the iconic spy film franchise that boasts 60 iconic lots spanning the 25 Bond films. The 60 lots, split between an online and a live auction, include a treasure trove of Bond goodies, including Timothy Dalton’s tuxedo from License To Kill, a Casino Royale script signed by the actors, producers and screenwriters; and even one of the Day of the Dead skeletons from Spectre. But the vast majority of items come from the most recent Bond film, No Time To Die – the 25th in the franchise and Daniel Craig’s last stint as the famous fictional British agent – including the Aston Martin DB5 stunt car from the thrilling opening scene, which we reckon might just be the coolest Bond car ever. A car that’s been shaken, not stirred. Image: Christie’s The DB5, of course, is a staple of the franchise and one of the most iconic movie cars of all time. This DB5 is a cut above the rest, however. One of only eight built specifically for James Bond and, to date, the only DB5 stunt car to be released for public sale, this was exclusively engineered and handcrafted by Aston Martin’s Special Projects division for No Time To Die, Christie’s explains. All the DB5 stunt cars were modified in different ways, with this car being one of a few to include the bespoke No Time To Die gadgets and mocked-up side panel damage. RELATED: Sebastian Vettel Takes James Bond’s Classic Aston Martin DB5 Drifting At Silverstone What’s really cool is that this car is actually functional, as it was built specifically to perform dynamic stunts. Under the hood, it boasts a modern 3.2L inline-six petrol engine plus a manual gearbox. The body panels are all carbon fibre, as is much of the interior, and it boasts a beefed-up bespoke suspension and braking system uniquely engineered by Aston Martin Special Projects. It’s not just some mocked-up shell: this is the real deal; as close as one can get to driving a functional Bond car. Cool, right? What’s the catch? Well, you might technically be able to drive it, but it was sold as a ‘non-runner’ collector’s item and is not approved for use on any public roads or homologated. This is just a technicality – I mean, you’d probably be crazy to drive around something so rare on the streets anyway… Very expensive donuts. Image: Christie’s The DB5, part of the live portion of the auction, ended up selling for 2,922,000 of His Majesty’s finest pounds (~ 3,172,050 USD / 4,869,395 AUD), far surpassing Christie’s auction estimate of 1,500,000 – 2,000,000 GBP. RELATED: ‘Most Expensive Ever’: $202 Million Mercedes-Benz Smashes Car Auction Records This DB5 wasn’t the only cool car that went under the hammer, either. A bunch of vehicles from No Time To Die were up for grabs – most of which smashed their auction estimates – including Bond’s 1981 Aston Martin V8 (which went for 630,000 GBP), Nomi’s Aston Martin DBS Superleggera (403,200 GBP), the Triumph Scrambler motorbike from the Italy opening sequence (138,600 GBP) plus two of the villainous Land Rover Defenders from the Norway chase scene (which didn’t beat their estimates and sold for 163,800 and 189,000 GBP respectively). Other cool lots at the Sixty Years of James Bond live auction included the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition worn by Daniel Craig in the film (226,800 GBP) and a five-night stay at the luxurious Goldeneye estate in Jamaica where Ian Fleming wrote all fourteen Bond books (52,920 GBP). While the live portion of the auction is over, the online portion is still running until October 5th, and contains goodies like signed posters and a bunch of outfits worn by Daniel Craig and others in the films. Chinas Crypto Billionaire Stocks Up On Precious Metals Gems And Fine Art Kitco NEWS
Chinas Crypto Billionaire Stocks Up On Precious Metals Gems And Fine Art Kitco NEWS
China’s Crypto Billionaire Stocks Up On Precious Metals, Gems And Fine Art – Kitco NEWS https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/chinas-crypto-billionaire-stocks-up-on-precious-metals-gems-and-fine-art-kitco-news/ (Kitco News) Chinese crypto billionaire Jihan Wu is diversifying into physical assets, including precious metals, gems and fine art, with his recent purchase of what is dubbed Asia’s Fort Knox. Bitdeer Technologies Holding Co., which Wu leads, paid $28.4 million to purchase Le Freeport, which is a state-of-the-art maximum security vault in Singapore designed and engineered by a team of Swiss architects and engineers. The news was reported by Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter. Jihan Wu is an influential figure in the crypto space. He founded Bitmain Technologies Ltd, which is the largest Bitcoin mining-machine manufacturer, with a revenue of $5.6 billion in 2021. Wu left the company last year and is now heading up its Bitcoin-mining spinoff Bitdeer and crypto-finance company Matrixport. The vault’s depository includes gold and silver bars, precious gems, and fine art from shareholders headed up by Swiss art dealer and founder Yves Bouvier, the media report said. The transaction was private and happened in July. Prior to this, Bouvier had been unsuccessful in trying to sell Freeport, located in Singapore near Changi airport. Freeport began operations more than a decade ago, intending to appeal to customers such as collectors, wealth managers, and major bullion traders. “The facility offers integrated services to handle the shipping, storage, display and trade of these valuables … Maximum security and 24/7 security access. Stringent security provisions include electronic monitoring of staff, clients and valuables as well as armed guards,” described Freeport’s website.  According to the deal, Bitdeer is the sole shareholder of Straitdeer Pte., which now is the new owner of Asia Freeport Holdings Pte. In another development, Wu is also forming a fund worth $250 million to buy up distressed assets from mining firms. “We can buy the cheaper machines and run them in our existing facilities with stable and cost-effective power purchase agreements,” Bitdeer CEO Matt Kong told Bloomberg. U.S. House Advances Bill To Boost Antitrust Efforts – Reuters.com https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/u-s-house-advances-bill-to-boost-antitrust-efforts-reuters-com/ WASHINGTON, Sept 28 (Reuters) – The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday voted to advance a bill that would update fees companies pay for merger reviews and strengthen state attorneys general in antitrust fights, according to Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s office. The bill combines measures introduced by Representative Joe Neguse, a Democrat, and Representative Ken Buck, a Republican. The next step is for the full House to vote on final passage. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com It would allow state attorneys general to choose which court they want to hear antitrust cases. Defendants would not be allowed to request a change of venue. Texas, along with other states, brought an antitrust action against Alphabet Inc’s Representative Zoe Lofgren, a California Democrat, joined with at least four other California Democrats to urge that the bill be defeated because of the venue measure. California is home to some of the biggest tech companies, including Google and Meta Platforms’ (META.O) Facebook. The measure also would lower the fees paid for antitrust reviews of smaller deals. But bigger deals would be more expensive. Deals worth $5 billion or more would pay $2.25 million to regulators conducting the antitrust review. The reviews are conducted by the U.S. Justice Department’s Antitrust Division and the Federal Trade Commission. The Senate has passed a bill giving state attorneys general the right to pick the venue for antitrust fights but has not passed a bill to update merger filing fees. Tech News: 5 Things To Know In Australia Today – Gizmodo Australia https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/tech-news-5-things-to-know-in-australia-today-gizmodo-australia-7/ Good morning. It’s Thursday, the day before Friday, the day before a long weekend across Australia (unless you live in Victoria, WA or the NT). Let’s get you up to speed. 1. Google’s Search On presentation Overnight, Google held an event called Search On 22, demonstrating how AI is transforming the company’s products. Google wants to make searching more of a visual experience and is opening up its previously-in-beta feature called ‘Multisearch’, which lets users search with images and text simultaneously. Google also revealed a powerful tool that translates text and contextual background images on pictures, along with a massive, multidimensional update to Google Maps, letting users walk around listed areas online. 2. Amazon’s new device range Also overnight, Amazon debuted several new devices, including an update to its Fire TV range with a new Fire TV Cube and Alexa Voice Remote Pro, along with four new Echo devices and upgrades to Echo Studio Audio. The company also introduced the Halo Rise, a bedside sleep tracker that uses machine learning to adapt to your sleep patterns and the Kindle Scribe. 3. Advertisers flee Twitter Moving onto another Silicon Valley giant, and advertisers are fleeing Twitter due to a rash of accounts on the platform peddling child sexual exploitation material. Reuters first reported on Wednesday that major brands discovered their ads had been appearing alongside tweets that were soliciting child abuse materials. The outlet said there were 30 advertisers, including the likes of Walt Disney Company, Coca-Cola, Dyson, NBCUniversal and more that appeared next to the profile pages of Twitter accounts active in selling and soliciting such material. 4. Blade’s director steps down Bassam Tariq and Marvel Studios are nothing but complimentary towards each other in their notes issued after Tariq’s departure. Due to the shifting nature of the MCU’s production schedule, Tariq has gracefully bowed out of leading the new Blade film. He will remain on as an executive producer, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Blade is scheduled to release in 2023, but other issues have come up since Tariq’s exit. New report on #Blade • Mahershala Ali is frustrated with the process • Script is only 90 pages long • Features just two ‘lackluster’ action sequences • Kevin Feige is said to be ‘spread too thin’ (via @theinsneider) pic.twitter.com/1cGmadPaGd — Culture Crave (@CultureCrave) September 28, 2022 5. NFT sales have lost nearly all their allure Bloomberg first reported on data hosted in Dune Analytics that showed trading volume for NFTs has gone from $US17 billion ($24 billion in Australia) to just $US466 million ($647 million) from January to September this year. That’s a precipitous 97 per cent drop in just nine months. The data was collected from NFT trading platforms including OpenSea, NFTX, LarvaLabs, LooksRare, SuperRare, Rarible and Foundation. Web3 is going great. BONUS ITEM: Was Chess champion Magnus Carlsen aided by a set of vibrating anal beads in an early September match? Vice has the buzz, after speaking to software engineer Ron Sijm. How To Plan The Perfect Adirondacks Vacation In Any Season Charming Towns And Gorgeous Hikes Included Travel Leisure
How To Plan The Perfect Adirondacks Vacation In Any Season — Charming Towns And Gorgeous Hikes Included – Travel + Leisure https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/how-to-plan-the-perfect-adirondacks-vacation-in-any-season-charming-towns-and-gorgeous-hikes-included-travel-leisure/ The Adirondacks. Even among New Yorkers, the word can bear confusion. Does it refer to the famous upstate New York wilderness, the mountains of the same name, or the region at large? Answer: all of the above. There’s Adirondack Park, the largest wilderness preserve in the lower 48, whose boundaries are essentially the same as those of the glacier-carved mountains called the Adirondacks. Both the park and the mountain group are considered New York’s Adirondacks region. A special mix of public and private land, the park is a “forever wild” forest preserve created by the state in 1892. At six million acres, Adirondack Park is bigger than Grand Canyon, Great Smoky Mountains, and Yosemite national parks put together — and then some. Within its borders are rural small towns; thousands of miles of hiking trails, from simple walks in the woods to strenuous High Peaks circuits; and plenty of freshwater lakes, ponds, and rivers begging for a dip, a kayak or canoe trip, or a day of fishing. And it’s all free to explore — no national parks-style fees or passes required. There are scores of sleepy hamlets, thriving villages, and gorgeous vacation areas to make your Adirondacks home base — here, we break down some of the most popular. Consider this guide a springboard for an awesome, nature-immersed Adirondacks getaway.  Lake Placid Joseph Plotz/Getty Images Lake Placid is one of the most famous lake destinations in the country, with not one but two Winter Olympics hosting gigs (1932 and 1980) under its belt. Bygone winter-sports glory may have put it on the map, but the lake town still very much shines on with luxury resorts, a lively village atmosphere, and a dizzying array of outdoor activities. During the summer, there’s boating, swimming, and walking around pristine Mirror Lake, while winter brings out the big dogs: skiing, snowshoeing, fat-tire biking, dog sledding, and ice skating (the open-air Olympic Oval rink looks largely the same as it did in 1932, and it’s simply magical).  Frank DeBonis/Getty Images First-timers, take note: The village of Lake Placid is actually on Mirror Lake. The lake Lake Placid is a few miles to the north. Where to Eat and Drink in Lake Placid Courtesy of Salt of the Earth Bistro Salt of the Earth is a regular presence on travelers’ best-of, must-visit lists. The tiny, women-run bistro serves dinner five nights a week, with menu highlights including venison Brunswick stew and grilled Faroe Islands salmon. Another fan favorite in town: Smoke Signals, a barbecue spot with great views of glassy Mirror Lake. Big Slide Brewery & Public House has mass appeal with award-winning ales, build-your-own flights, and a classic pub menu (ingredients are sourced from nearly a dozen Adirondacks farms and producers).  Where to Stay in Lake Placid Courtesy of Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa Grand lodges, design-centric boutique hotels, elegant inns — Lake Placid has it all. Each of the 131 rooms at the family-owned Mirror Lake Inn has a view of the lake and the surrounding mountains. After a day on your skis or snowboard, unwind by the giant stone fireplace or in the spa’s hot tub and sauna. The ever-popular High Peaks Resort and the midcentury gem Lake House also offer spectacular lake views. For the hipster crowd, a 1950s motor inn on the Chubb River has been reborn as Eastwind Lake Placid. The dreamy boutique mountain retreat (and further north offshoot of the Catskills original) plays up chic Scandinavian style in its 26 rooms and eco-luxe cabins. There are also saunas, a pool, a spa, bike/skate rentals, and special events like yoga and live music.  Walter Bibikow/Getty Images Back on Main Street, the Grand Adirondack Hotel (re)makes its debut this fall after a thorough overhaul. Its origin story goes all the way back to 1897, when it opened as the Northwoods Inn. The revamped hotel recalls the Adirondack Great Camps — the luxurious and rambling 19th-century compounds favored by the super rich.  Whiteface and High Peaks Region Tetra Images/Getty Images Quick geography lesson: the Whiteface region is just a hop, skip, and jump up from Lake Placid, only about 20 to 30 minutes by car. It’s anchored by none other than Whiteface Mountain, a favorite of Olympians for its vertical drop — the biggest this side of the Mississippi. In the summer, conquer the mountain via hiking trails or the Whiteface Veterans’ Memorial Highway. Once you reach the summit (a cool 4,867 feet), the awaiting panorama reaches as far as Canada. Whiteface is one of the Adirondacks’ High Peaks — mountains ranging from 3,820 to 5,344 feet. Where to Eat and Drink in the Whiteface and High Peaks Regions Courtesy of Forty Six Breakfast and lunch basics are done well at Adirondack Mountain Coffee cafe (for example, the “woodcutters” breakfast platters, piled with eggs, steak, sausage, home fries, pancakes, and a slice of apple pie for good measure).  The Rivermede Farm Market is a can’t-miss stop for baked goods and produce from its 115-year-old farm. Grab sandwiches and baked goods for the trail at Cedar Run Bakery & Market or pull over for a quick burger and a scoop at darling Whitebrook Dairy Bar — a roadside spot little changed since the ’60s. If more of a sit-down affair is in order, try the Hungry Trout, a woodsy tavern at the base of Whiteface, or Forty Six, an upscale watering hole whose menu celebrates local bounty.  Diana Robinson Photography/Getty Images Where to Stay in the Whiteface and High Peaks Regions Local farm stays are the kind of places an Adirondack getaway is built around. Asgaard Farm & Dairy’s 1930s Emerson House (bookable on Vrbo or Airbnb) can sleep four soundly. With a screened-in porch and outdoor dining/grilling area, there are plenty of places for relaxing — and devouring a board of Asgaard’s creamy chèvre and cellar-aged tomme. Sugar House Creamery’s farm stays include a charming private suite attached to the main farmhouse and a lofted carriage barn, complete with a private balcony overlooking mountain pastures (where the farm’s herd of Brown Swiss cows lazily graze) and the Sentinel Range Wilderness. Either way, you’ll want to stock up on cave-aged cheese and wood-fired fresh bread from Sugar House’s farm store. Our friend the Hungry Trout restaurant is part of a traditional family-owned motor lodge of the same name. Set right on the banks of the Ausable River, Hungry Trout Resort gives guests step-outside-your-door access to trout fishing and riverside hiking. Gorgeous mountain cabins at Dartbrook Lodge, decked out with features like slate rain showers, gas wood stoves, and upscale Great Camp-style decor, give it their all to fully convert you to Adirondack life. Saranac Lake capecodphoto/Getty Images Just about nine miles from Lake Placid (and less than an hour from the Whiteface region), Saranac Lake is a lovely alternative to its neighbor’s typical high prices and throngs of visitors. Instead of Olympic history, Saranac boasts literary, artistic, and medical fame: Hungarian composer Béla Bartók wrote two concertos in a small Saranac cabin, Sylvia Plath commemorated the area in “In the Mountains” and “The Bell Jar,” and Albert Einstein was a kindly presence around town (and on the lake) in the 1930s and 40s.  Saranac’s cold alpine air and low humidity are similar to Europe’s mountain climates, and in the late 19th century the town found world fame as a health resort for tuberculosis. (A fantastic rainy-day plan is the fascinating Saranac Laboratory Museum, the first lab in the country dedicated to tuberculosis research and care.) Scottish writer and adventurer Robert Louis Stevenson sought relief in Saranac; you can visit the cottage where the “Treasure Island” author resided one famously cold winter in the 1880s.  As for the great outdoors, there’s the usual buffet of Adirondack activities: cross-country skiing on the Jackrabbit Trail; mountain biking or downhill skiing Mount Pisgah; paddling around the Saint Regis Canoe Area, an 18,400-acre network of wilderness lakes, ponds, and canoe routes. Seasoned hikers can try the 6er hiking challenge — trekking the six Adirondack peaks that surround the lake. Where to Eat and Drink in Saranac Lake Courtesy of Fiddlehead Bistro Start your day at Origin Coffee Co. with a breakfast burrito, fresh baked goods, and a morning brew. After you’ve had your fill of outdoor activities for the day, head to Left Bank Cafe, a local darling for French dishes like pan-seared salmon and beef bourguignon, or The Fiddlehead Bistro, an art-filled charmer with a daily changing menu (with any luck, it’ll list homemade gnocchi and pepper-crusted sirloin from nearby Donahue’s Livestock Farms the night you visit). Where to Stay in Saranac Lake Courtesy of Saranac Waterfront Lodge Saranac Lake has a good mix of camping options, quaint inns, and cottage and cabin rentals. You’ll even find campsites on Saranac Lake’s islands, accessible only by boat and bookable through ReserveAmerica.com. For a more traditional stay, check out the LEED-certified Saranac Waterfront Lodge or the Hotel Saranac, a 1920s landmark with a cozy Great Hall bar below a wonderfully ornate ceiling that looks straight out of an Italian palazzo. Or, go big at The Point, a majestic property originally built in the early ’30s as Camp Wonundra — William Rockefeller Jr.’s Great Camp — and eventually the first Relais & Chateaux hotel in North America. Lake George Amy Sparwasser/Getty Images It’s hard to resist the siren call of Lake George in the summertime — business magnate John D. Rockefeller and artist Georgia O’Keeffe flocked to this southern Adirondacks haven once upon a time. Fresh air and natural beauty ...

Perhaps. There are few precedents—if any—for a company spending as heavily as Facebook’s owner is to develop a new tech platform, an immersive world Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg envisages as “the next chapter” of the internet. And by Zuckerberg’s own telling, it could be another eight years or more—the “end of the decade”—before Meta starts to see a payoff. That begs the question of whether Meta will ever get enough of a return to justify the investment. We decided to take a stab at comparing what Meta is spending on its big new bet to what other companies have invested on new platforms. It’s striking that in the past, companies like Apple and Google developed groundbreaking new technologies—such as the iPhone and Android mobile software—while spending a fraction of what Meta is investing. And for both Apple and Google, those investments were spectacular successes. Both companies continued to invest in their new technologies, but much of that investment came after launch, when the payoff was clearer. Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Gaming Headset Review GameRant
Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Gaming Headset Review GameRant
Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Gaming Headset Review – GameRant https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/turtle-beach-stealth-600-gen-2-gaming-headset-review-gamerant/ There is no shortage of options when it comes to gaming headsets. Ever since gamers were using their dial-up modems to play Phantasy Star Online on the Sega Dreamcast, players have been searching for reliable headsets that provide quality audio without breaking the bank. Searching on retailers like Amazon will provide hundreds of low-cost options, but with unknown brand names and models, quality can be unpredictable. Spending all the money in your piggy bank on a premium headset may seem like a simple solution, but cracking open that adorable oinkster isn’t a guarantee that you’re getting a massive upgrade over some of the more sensibly priced options. Luckily, with the many options on the market, it is possible to find a quality gaming headset from a reputable company without paying top dollar. A perfect example of this is the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Wireless Gaming Headset. Since 2005, Turtle Beach has earned a large share of the gaming headset market by offering highly reviewed products at a wide range of price points. The Stealth 600 might be the best value among all the options in their gaming headset line. There are an abundance of gaming headsets with a similar price point, but the Stealth 600 Gen 2’s focus on comfortable design and high audio quality make it stand out from the pack. The remainder of this article will focus on all the pros and cons of this headset and why it’s an exceptional choice for budget gamers in the market for a wireless gaming headset. It’s extraordinary that Turtle Beach was able to pack so much punch in this device while staying in a lower price range. When players look at the wireless gaming headset options currently available in 2022, it’s really hard to beat the Stealth 600 Gen 2 when it comes to value and quality. Everything about its design was perfected with gamers in mind, from the flip-to-mute microphone to the glasses-friendly dual-foam ear cushions. It’s extraordinary that Turtle Beach was able to pack so much punch in this device while staying in a lower price range. Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Wireless Gaming Headset High quality audio, 15-hour battery life, and a flip-to-mute microphone help make the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Wireless Gaming Headset one of the best-budget wireless gaming headsets available for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. In the nine months before writing this review, the Stealth 600 Gen 2 was used as the main gaming headset in a home gaming setting. The headset itself was tested in the following games: • Halo Infinite • Halo: The Master Chief Collection • Fortnite • MultiVersus • Fall Guys Contents Of Package Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 USB Wireless Amplified Gaming Headset Wireless USB Transmitter USB-C Charging Cable Quick Start Guide Turtle Beach Sticker Presentation & Design Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 Size & Measurements Driver Size 50 mm Weight 10.6 Ounces Frequency Response 20Hz – 20kHz Microphone Type Flip-up Omni-Directional While some might consider it simple, the design of the Stealth 600 Gen 2 is sleek and minimalist. There’s definitely a focus here on efficiency and comfort as opposed to an extravagant look. One of the features that leads to its high comfort level is the uniquely shaped ear cups. They’re not circular or a perfect oval, yet they fit perfectly around the listener’s ears. All the necessary buttons and the pull-down microphone are located on the left ear side, making it easy to change volumes or switch between modes. They’re available in three different color schemes. The first is a black and neon green version that is a nod to the original Xbox. The second is a white and gray look that is futuristic yet retro, like something inspired by the original Tron film. The third is the Playstation version which subs out the neon green for a sleek looking blue. Stealth 600 Gen 2 Layout Key Information Key Features Power, Mode, and Connection Buttons Separate Game and Chat Audio Knobs Adjustable Sizing Ear Cup Material Dual-foam Ear Cushions Microphone Side Left Microphone Style Flip-up Omni-Directional Swappable Microphone No The minimalist design of the Stealth 600 Gen 2 leads to superior functionality. Everything you need is right within reach on the outside of the left ear cup. The connect button discreetly positioned at the bottom of the ear cup makes it easy to connect the headphones to your Xbox, Playstation, or PC. The power button rests under the volume knobs, making it convenient to power on or off. If one forgets to power off, the headset will power itself down after a set amount of inactivity. After one or two sessions of wear, the user will have the muscle memory to make in-game adjustments to the audio or chat volume knobs. Located on the backside of the ear cup, these knobs can make seamless adjustments on the fly. The final button, one in between the power and volume knobs, is a mode button that allows you to quickly switch between a variety of preset options. Users of this headset will immediately discover how great the design of the microphone is. Also located on the left ear cup, the microphone folds directly to the left side of the cup, essentially vanishing from sight if not in use. When needing to communicate with teammates, the wearer simply flicks it down into position. The microphone then is close enough to receive all of your voice commands but not too close where it would be uncomfortable in any way. There’s no hard-to-find mute button on this accessory, as one can fold the microphone back up into the ear cup to rapidly mute the device. Comfort While not the lightest headset at this price point, the Stealth 600 is still not heavy enough to cause any sort of inconvenience to the wearer. At 2/3s of a single pound, gamers could walk around with these all day and not feel any lingering effects due to the weight. They also don’t feel too light in a cheap way, proving that Turtle Beach used quality materials when constructing them. Despite the low weight, they will feel sturdy and strong in your hands and on your head. They can certainly survive a fall or two without being any worse for the wear. Turtle Beach did its patrons a great service by building these headphones with soft, breathable materials that really makes them a joy to wear. Long sessions at the start of a new season of Fortnite or Halo Infinite will be no issues as gamers should be able to wear the Stealth 600s for an extended period of time without any discomfort. Comfort-wise, these are far superior to lower-priced sets that were also tested. The larger ear cups not only add to the user’s comfort but also create a larger depth perception. The strengthened, adjustable headband makes changing sizes quick and easy while its underneath padding makes it feel like you’re wearing a small pillow on your head. The Stealth 600 Gen 2s are certainly ahead of the pack when it comes to comfort and one would be hard-pressed to find a competing headset at a similar or cheaper price point that is more comfortable to wear for long gaming sessions. Sound Quality The Stealth 600 Gen 2 Sound Specs Speakers 50mm with Neodymium magnets Frequency Response 20Hz – 20kHz Surround Sound Ready for Xbox Yes Turtle Beach Superhuman Hearing Setting Yes When it comes to what’s inside the Stealth 600s, they’re definitely designed with gamers in mind. The 50mm with Neodymium magnets speakers and a frequency response of 20Hz-20kHz exceed the specs on the typical gaming headset. They are surround sound capable, having been optimized to work with Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos, and DTS headphones. Surround sound capability is huge in games where enemies can strike from any direction. On top of that, the headphone features Turtle Beach’s exclusive ‘Superhuman Hearing’ setting which increases the awareness of what direction a sound is coming from. According to a Turtle Beach study in 2021, this superhuman setting can increase a player’s kill-to-death ratio up to 44% and increase their average life span up to 20%. Any gamer would love those bumps in efficiency. Of course, if one has the disposable income and wants the gaming headset with the best possible sound quality then there are higher-tiered products that are available. That’s not to say that the Stealth 600s have subpar sound quality. With a design focused on gaming, Turtle Beach really packed everything they could into the Stealth 600s to make them more than sufficient for the average gamer. Between the speaker size and frequency response range the quality of these gaming headsets is nothing to scoff at, especially when considering the price tag. Microphone Clarity While great sound and comfort are big factors when selecting some new headwear, one shouldn’t ignore the microphone. Not all microphones are created equal. When communication is so key in online multiplayer games, a crystal clear message can make or break a victory. For gamers that exclusively play single-player games the microphone isn’t as important, but if any multiplayer rounds are going to be played then ensuring your headset has a quality mic is very important. Of several similarly priced headsets sampled for this review, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600’s microphone really stood out in terms of quality and functionality. It’s larger, highly sensitive microphone boosts 99.95% voice clarity. The headset includes a feature called mic monitoring, which allows the user to hear their own communications so that they know how they’re sounding to their teammates. In almost every party chat participated in for this review, the Stealth’s messages were clearer than those sent by party members using more costly headsets. The best part of the microphone is its functionality. When it’s not needed, or it’s necessary to be off mic for a moment, a...

Crypto News Flash: Polygon STEPN Tamadoge And Big Eyes Coin Are Making Huge Impacts On The Metaverse | Bitcoinist
Crypto News Flash: Polygon, STEPN, Tamadoge, And Big Eyes Coin Are Making Huge Impacts On The Metaverse | – Bitcoinist https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/crypto-news-flash-polygon-stepn-tamadoge-and-big-eyes-coin-are-making-huge-impacts-on-the-metaverse-bitcoinist/ Mckinsey reported that over $120 billion had been invested into the Metaverse in the first five months of 2022. They also expect the industry to be worth $5 trillion by 2030. These investments signal the huge potentials the industry holds. As a savvy crypto investor, it is best to tap into this market before a massive explosion. You can start by investing in the major components of the Metaverse ecosystem, which are tokens—crypto tokens and NFTs. Crypto tokens facilitate virtual transactions, while NFTs are the objects used in the Metaverse. In this regard, this piece would reveal top projects playing a huge role in the Metaverse. These tokens are Polygon(MATIC), StepN(GMT), Tamadoge(TAMA), and Big Eyes Coin (BIG). Polygon(MATIC) Frequent users of the Ethereum network can attest to the congestion, slow transaction speed, and costly gas fees. Polygon(MATIC) was created to tackle these issues on the Ethereum network. Synonymous to its geometric name, Polygon(MATIC) is a network with multiple chains all acting on Ethereum to facilitate speedier transactions on an interconnected network. Inherently, it is a layer-2 solution. With Polygon(MATIC), developers can build Ethereum-compatible applications connected to the main network. Hence, Polygon(MATIC) is similar to protocols like Avalanche, Cosmos, and Polkadot. Like many other protocols, Polygon(MATIC) has a native token known as MATIC. This token can validate transactions, earn passive rewards, and vote changes. Let’s not forget its ability to serve as a means of payment. StepN(GMT) StepN(GMT) is the first move-to-earn solution on the Metaverse. To utilize StepN(GMT), users will purchase NFT sneakers which will then be used to partake in fitness activities such as walks, jogging, and running outdoors. The time you can spend on daily activities depends on the sneaker’s energy level. There are different forms of sneakers in the marketplace, with varying specifics and energy levels. So, users can purchase their desired sneakers and start earning. On the StepN(GMT) platform, there are two major crypto tokens—Green Satoshi Token(GST) and Green Metaverse Token(GMT). GST is the utility token, while GMT is the governance token. Plus, GMT is paid to users whose sneakers have hit the Level 30 stage. Those optimistic about the future of StepN(GMT) should consider holding GMT as it has a limited supply and has performed significantly better than GST. Tamadoge(TAMA) Like real pets, your purchase, train, and breed them into adult pets. Tamadoge(TAMA) works similarly. Tamadoge(TAMA) is an NFT pet in the Tamaverse—Tamadoge(TAMA) metaverse world. As the owner of one or a group of Tamadoge(TAMA) pets, proper breeding is crucial to how much you can earn. A well-fed and trained pet can compete in arcades and win price points for its owners. With the Tamadoge(TAMA) pets as Metaverse NFTs, they’d feel as much as a real pet. When logged into virtual reality, these pets look real. The Tamadoge(TAMA) team is taking it further by collaborating with other Metaverse worlds. With these, Tamadoge(TAMA) owners can play with their pets in any virtual world. Big Eyes Coin (BIG) Big Eyes Coin (BIG) is a community-centric meme token planning to contribute greatly to DeFi and the Meta. As we all know, many meme coins are attributed to Dogs and Apes, but Big Eyes Coin (BIG) took a different aesthetic. The cat. Big Eyes Coin (BIG) is not just a cat but an aesthetically appealing cat. With its look, Big Eyes Coin (BIG) should win the NFT beauty contest and the most popular meme coin. The hype has played a crucial role in the growth of crypto coins and NFTs—sometimes, unreal hype. Big Eyes Coin (BIG) intends to be the talk and do the project. It will be creating a series of events and contents that will help people navigate the DeFi space. Plus, the token will also be greatly influenced by the community. As a genuine decentralized and community meme coin, we expect Big Eyes Coin(BIG) to grow significantly. Investors can partake in the presales of Big Eyes Coin (BIG) to tap into potential returns. Disclaimer: This is a paid release. AppleParts.io Shares Tips On How To Care For A Macbook Pro – WebWire https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/appleparts-io-shares-tips-on-how-to-care-for-a-macbook-pro-webwire/ AppleParts is one of the leading companies for apple parts. It provides MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air parts and accessories at a fair price. Middleboro, Massachusetts, USA – WEBWIRE – Wednesday, September 28, 2022 When consumers need to fix a broken Macbook Pro, Macbook Air, Mac Mini, or any other Apple product, do they need to repair them themselves? AppleParts.io has the expertise to examine their devices and perform a repair service. The most common problems that people bring to AppleParts.io for repair are: Overheating MacBook Pro MacBook Air does not power on and does not boot up Looping screen on reboot USB ports aren’t working, or the computer is continuously freezing. For individuals who are dealing with any of the concerns listed above, the information below may be helpful: Failure of the MacBook logic board Logic board breakdown is a hardware problem that is hard to resolve with software or reinstallation. The MacBook Pro a1708 motherboard is a circuit board that functions similarly to the central nervous system, connecting all of the computer’s components. It allows hardware and software to communicate with one another. And, just like the brain’s central nervous system, a faulty motherboard renders laptop useless. How should MacBook Air as well as MacBook Pro be cared for? MacBook’s motherboard or the device as a whole also needs tender loving care. It will function for a long time and will not require motherboard repairs or other issues if people maintain it properly. Here are a few basic suggestions to help a Macbook last longer: Do not place MacBook on the floor or bed; rather, place it on a table. Placing a Macbook on the bed will not allow the proper flow of air which is required to cool off the system. That is why AppleParts recommends consumers to place it on a table. If at all possible, keep the MacBook in a secure location when not in use. It will cause fewer future accidents as a result of this. When people need to stay hydrated or get caffeine dose while working, use spill-proof tumblers. Making a mistake here is simple. It can be frightening to think about spilling a drink or any other liquid on a laptop because the sensitive computer hardware will incur damage. The circuit board of a personal laptop is the first component to fail when moisture gets inside of it; occasionally, the keyboard will also fail. The liquid will cause the interconnecting points on the motherboard to stop functioning, which could eventually result in the breakdown of the entire board. Give the computer a break by occasionally rebooting it or turning it off while not in use. Keep it from being in sleep for days and days. In general, an overheated computer is not good. For the computer to operate without a hitch, all components—especially the logic board—need effective cooling. It is common for the CPU and video card to consume a lot of electricity and produce a lot of heat. Computer’s cooling system will subsequently distribute the heat to maintain an appropriate interior temperature. Use a power strip to safeguard electronic gadgets, including a Macbook. As is common knowledge, a lot of hardware parts degrade quickly. Natural wear and strain damage are two elements that lead to logic board failure. AppleParts offers Repair Services For All Sorts Of Problems AppleParts.io experts will examine and analyze a MacBook to find the source of the problem. All Apple items are fixed, repaired, and serviced by them. Apple products such as the Mac Pro, Macbook Pro, Macbook Air, iMac, iPad and Mac mini are available. AppleParts also offers repair services for many other laptop manufacturers. The company always has spare components of the a2141 logic board and parts in stock. AppleParts’ original features and premium parts include the following: Energy adapter LCD Ram Logic Board for a Keyboard AppleParts performs data recovery in addition to motherboard maintenance and quality part replacements. Businesses Search For Customers At Central Washington State Fair In Yakima – Yakima Herald-Republic https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/businesses-search-for-customers-at-central-washington-state-fair-in-yakima-yakima-herald-republic/ Even after eating several corn dogs, a huge plate of curly fries and a deep-fried Kit Kat, Central Washington State Fair attendees are not typically thinking about how to pre-arrange their own funeral. But that doesn’t stop Dan Williams, funeral director at Valley Hills Funeral Home & Crematory, from talking about the subject with hundreds of people each day at a vendor booth in the Yakima Valley SunDome. “I always get these crazy looks,” Williams said Friday, Sept. 23, on the opening day of the fair. “But we actually get quite a bit of business … by the end of the 10 days, we’re talking to people all the time. We’re here to educate people on pre-arrangements.” Vendors ranging from bakeries and T-shirt stands to businesses selling big-ticket items such as hot tubs and solar panels sit side-by-side in the fair’s Hometown Marketplace on the dome’s floor. While most people don’t come to the Central Washington State Fair looking to buy new windows or remodel their bathrooms, businesses offering those opportunities are happy to plant the seed of an idea for the thousands of fairgoers who wander through the SunDome. “We certainly get a lot of interest in the product,” said Victoria Panka, representing Re-Bath at the marketplace. “With this big fancy display, people see it and they want to know what it’s about. If they’re thinking about a bathroom remodel, we have something to offer them.” This year’s fair offered space for either the first five days, second five days or both for smaller vendors, said Kathy Kramer, president and CEO of the Central Washington Fair Association. Lots of potential customers As with many business expo events, booths offering big-ticket items had more than just a fancy display to draw in potential customers. Treats, free items such as pens or notepads, and even cool, clean water help attract people to booths. The latter item is a natural for Culligan Water of Yakima. Located at 617 Fruitvale Blvd., the water filtration and softening company has been coming to the Central Washington State Fair for at least 30 years, said Mike Brown, area sales manager. “We do fairs across the state, and this is one of the better ones for results,” Brown said Friday. “Most years, we’ll get at least 80 leads on potential customers. Today, we’ve already had five leads in the first three hours.” Brown believes the Yakima-based fair tends to bring in higher-caliber musical acts than, say, a similar event in Spokane. There’s also a wide range of demographics in the crowd, which makes it attractive to businesses participating in the Hometown Marketplace. “A county or state fair brings in every walk of life — from people with the most money to people with less amounts of money. They all come to have a good time here,” he added. “In my opinion, one of the best things you can do is to get a booth and get your name and product in front of such a large and wide variety of people.” Re-Bath, with locations in Yakima, Kennewick and Wenatchee, also generates a good number of leads at each fair it attends. Panka said the Re-Bath booth at the Benton-Franklin Fair and Rodeo last month generated about 25 leads a day, and she expected similar numbers for this week’s Central Washington State Fair. Seeing familiar faces Jeannie Reinmuth, owner of Harmony Hills Candle Co. in Gleed, was a first-time participant in the fair’s Hometown Marketplace. Reinmuth has been a vendor at the Downtown Yakima Farmers Market and said Friday she has seen and visited with several regular customers in the SunDome. “A lot of people come through, see that we’re a local business and they appreciate that,” she added. “They like to see familiar faces.” Reinmuth’s soy candles are sold in 14 shops from Cle Elum to Prosser, so there are plenty of opportunities for Yakima Valley residents to see and buy her goods. The Central Washington State Fair puts her product in front of even more people, she said. “It’s our first time coming here, and already it’s been nice to see some of our customers walk through and say hello,” Reinmuth said. “I know a lot of these vendors, too — we sell together often. It’s a good event.” More options for businesses Harmony Hills Candle Co. is just the kind of local small business that Kramer, president and CEO of the fair association, hoped to attract for the 2022 event. Flexibility in the number of days businesses could participate was one of the changes in policy for the Hometown Marketplace. “As I started to learn more about Yakima and all the small businesses that were here, plus new ones that came out of the pandemic, I wanted to find a way for them to be part of the fair,” Kramer said. “Talking to them at farmers markets, online and in the community, they all shared that one of their biggest obstacles to participating in the fair was that they had to be here for all 10 days, and didn’t have the staff or resources for that commitment,” she added. To solve the problem, Kramer and fair organizers broke the event in half, allowing vendors to participate in the Hometown Marketplace for five days rather than the entire 10-day fair. “Changing over mid-fair is not a big deal as they can easily pack up their things in a few hours and the second half vendors can move in,” Kramer said. “We want to use the fair to help ‘incubate’ these small businesses and have them be able to take advantage of exposing their products to fairgoers,” she added. “I believe it’s important to make sure the fair has a good balance of local and regional vendors, as well as those businesses that travel the fair circuit.” Apparently the new policy is working. Kramer said the Hometown Marketplace sold out its five-day slots for both halves of this year’s fair, with a waiting list for next year. “We are so happy to see this area full and plan to expand Hometown Marketplace next year so more local and regional small and new businesses can participate,” Kramer said. “We also wanted to make it affordable, so we offered a discounted rate of $200 for five days.” More information about the 2022 Central Washington State Fair is available at statefairpark.org.

Dunkirk Schools Honor Haynes | News, Sports, Jobs – Evening Observer https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/dunkirk-schools-honor-haynes-news-sports-jobs-evening-observer/ Latest news Sep 28, 2022 M.J. STAFFORD mstafford@observertoday.com LaPearl Haynes poses with the plaque dedicating a room at Dunkirk’s secondary school to her husband, Roosevelt. The Rev. Roosevelt Haynes is warmly remembered in the Dunkirk community. Tuesday, that remembrance was formalized with a plaque. The Dunkirk school district renamed its Large Group Instruction Room in the junior-senior high school after Haynes. He was a longtime member of the Board of Education, and the school board normally meets in the room. In fact, they met after the ceremony. The room was filled with friends and family of Haynes, who passed in 2018, with some people forced to stand. His widow, LaPearl, was the center of attention at the ceremony, posing for photos with his plaque afterwards. She offered brief remarks, as did District Superintendent Mike Mansfield. Mansfield spoke of Haynes’ “steadfast work and commitment” and described a bit of his life. Haynes was the youngest of seven children and attended a one-room schoolhouse in Tennessee, going on to graduate from college in Alabama. “He married his high school sweetheart, LaPearl, who is with us this evening,” Mansfield mentioned, drawing a round of applause. “The couple moved to Dunkirk in 1968 and Roosevelt dutifully served his community for the next 50 years,” Mansfield continued. The superintendent offered a partial list of Haynes’ many committees and groups. He was on city of Dunkirk committees for charter revision and codes and was on the boards of directors for the city youth bureau and its housing authority, for example. He also was president, vice president, and clerk of the Dunkirk Board of Education during 18 years of service with that group. Today’s breaking news and more in your inbox

Is NFT Utility A Challenge? Learn How Cocky Is Setting New Standards Cryptonews
Is NFT Utility A Challenge? Learn How Cocky Is Setting New Standards Cryptonews
Is NFT Utility A Challenge? Learn How Cocky Is Setting New Standards – Cryptonews https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/is-nft-utility-a-challenge-learn-how-cocky-is-setting-new-standards-cryptonews/ Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) continue to attract special attention within the cryptocurrency sector, even though the initial hype surrounding them has subsided a little, and even though crypto continues to suffer its way through a bear market. After Collins Dictionary made non-fungible token its word of the year in 2021, the burgeoning NFT sub-sector continues to grow steadily, with trading volume still topping half a billion dollars per month. However, while NFTs still manage to sell for large sums, finding a genuine real-world use case for non-fungible tokens remains something of a conundrum. Musicians and bands have released albums in conjunction with limited-edition NFTs, while names such as Bored Ape Yacht Club are branching out into new areas, yet it’s arguable that non-fungible tokens have yet to find a ‘killer app’ that provides actual utility to their holders. This is a valid criticism, but it’s one that may not remain valid for much longer. Significant players within the music and gaming industries, for instance, are convinced that NFTs have a meaningful future within their sectors, and there’s one new player within the music and entertainment that serves as a good example of this. This is Cocky, a self-styled “lifestyle club” that uses NFTs to offer access to a variety of music events, both in-person and in virtual reality. By linking non-fungible tokens to the attendance of actual events, Cocky anchors them in the real world, ensuring that they will have value insofar as they refer to something other than themselves. What is Cocky and How Is It Linking NFTs to Music Events? Launched only a few months ago, Cocky aims to use NFTs in a variety of interesting ways in the context of live (and virtual) music events. At its most simple, Cocky will issue a collection of 10,000 NFTs based on the Ethereum blockchain. These NFTs will take the form of “visually stunning” cans (i.e. soft drink cans), as picture below. According to Cocky’s website, these cans will be based around 51 skin variations, which alter their basic designs and styles. Where things get interesting, however, is that these NFT-based cans will alter depending on the Cocky events holders attend. For instance, the cans will have one of three possible lids (black, silver and gold), which vary according to the user’s tier and which provide the holder with unique benefits at Cocky events. These lids are randomly assigned to NFTs, providing their holders with such perks as accommodation, subsidized transport and bar tabs. More interestingly, a user’s NFT receives ‘passport stamps’ when attending new events. The more events they attend, the more their can mutates, increasing its rarity and potentially increasing its value on the second-hand market. The combination of these mutations and randomly assigned lids/tiers will likely make buying Cocky NFTs on the secondary market more desirable to traders, since ownership would confer future benefits on holders, as well as enabling attendance of events. This is precisely where utility enters the picture, since holding a Cocky will become useful and valuable to its holder, enabling them to enjoy real-world experiences and obtain special VIP benefits while doing so. As for these experiences, Cocky’s website and Twitter reveal that these will be (at least for now) “world-class” electronic music events. It plans to stage anything from two to four in-person festivals or events each year, as well as more regular virtual events. With the virtual events, they will be streamed by Cocky on its own platform, whereas the physical events will take place at “spectacular locations across the globe.” None of these locations have been revealed yet, but Cocky is certainly promising big things by using the word “spectacular.” The Roadmap and Pre-Mint Sale Helpfully, Cocky has released its roadmap on its website, revealing that it will release the location — as well as open registration — for its first event in the final quarter of this year. This first event will then take place in the opening quarter of 2023, attendance of which will confer mutations onto the NFTs held by participants. As for actually obtaining Cocky’s NFTs in the first place, its pre-mint sale has just begun, with interested parties able to register via a visit to the platform’s official website. Overall, Cocky’s plans are certainly ambitious, with its roadmap and FAQ suggesting that Cocky is positioning itself as a kind of Bored Ape Yacht Club for music events. While it isn’t explicitly stated anywhere in the platform’s online materials, it’s likely that its events and NFTs will be aimed at the higher, more luxury end of the market, at least judging by its promise of beautiful locations around the world. This would mean that ownership of Cocky NFT could potentially provide ordinary holders with the opportunity to rub shoulders with a more ‘upmarket’ demographic. Needless to say, time will obviously tell whether the rich and/or famous will go for Cocky’s NFTs, as they did with BAYC. Assuming that Cocky can secure good lineups for its music events and good facilities, there’s every chance it will attract a decent crowd and community. If this does turn out to be the case, then its NFTs could end up becoming valuable, since they will grant entry into a world where music lovers can enjoy singular experiences and meet likeminded people. The Future of NFTs In other words, Cocky’s events will help non-fungible tokens become more than a nice digital collectible to have in your possession. And this is something that NFTs have been trying to evolve beyond for a couple of years now, despite the initial hype. Encouragingly, there are other indications that NFTs may start offering some genuine value to their holders, beyond speculation. This is evident in the use gaming developers and publishers are aiming to make of non-fungible tokens, while it’s also evident in crypto-native projects such as Bored Ape Yacht Club moving into the metaverse. It will take some time to things to mature the point where NFTs make a valuable contribution to their holders’ lives, yet it’s clear now that the industry is well aware that it needs to do more than simply offer a promising vehicle for speculation. And with Cocky’s plans to attach NFTs to real-world events, it seems that it has begun to do just that.

Cineplex Makes Approach For Cineworld’s U.S. Franchise, WSJ Reports – Reuters https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/cineplex-makes-approach-for-cineworlds-u-s-franchise-wsj-reports-reuters/ A Cineplex movie theatre sign looms over Yonge street in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, March 16, 2020. REUTERS/Chris Helgren/File Photo Cineplex offers debt and stock backed by combined business – WSJ Shares in Cineworld reverse course after initial jump Cineworld shares down 4% Sept 28 (Reuters) – Canadian cinema chain Cineplex (CGX.TO) has approached bankrupt rival Cineworld’s (CINE.L) lenders for a potential merger with the British company’s U.S. unit Regal Entertainment, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday. Cineworld and Cineplex have been locked in a multimillion-dollar legal battle since the London-listed company rescinded its offer to buy Cineplex more than two years ago. Cineworld has since been struggling to rein in massive debt and this month filed for bankruptcy in the United States. Cineplex is in early talks with Cineworld’s lenders about taking over Regal in exchange for debt and stock backed by the combined business, the WSJ reported, citing people familiar with the matter. Cineworld declined to comment on the report. Cineplex and Cineworld’s restructuring adviser Alix Partners and financial adviser PJT Partners did not respond immediately to a Reuters request for comment. The planned Cineplex takeover by was abandoned in 2020, with Cineworld citing breaches in the merger agreement, prompting a C$1.23 billion ($894.81 million) damages claim by the Canadian business. Debt taken on by Cineworld to survive a pandemic-driven delcine in footfall, along with previous loans to fund part of its $3.6 billion purchase of Regal in 2017 to create the world’s second-largest movie theatre chain, left the British company struggling to stay afloat. Its net debt, including lease liabilities of about $4 billion, stood at $8.9 billion at the end of 2021. The company’s market value at Tuesday’s market close was about 37 million pounds ($39.5 million). EXCLUSIVE Vietnam Preparing Rules To Limit News Posts On Social Media Accounts – Sources – Reuters https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/exclusive-vietnam-preparing-rules-to-limit-news-posts-on-social-media-accounts-sources-reuters/ SINGAPORE/HANOI, Sept 28 (Reuters) – Vietnam is preparing new rules to limit which social media accounts can post news-related content, three people familiar with the matter said, as authorities tighten their control over news and information sources in the country. The rules, expected to be announced by the year-end and with details yet to be hammered out, would establish a legal basis for controlling news dissemination on platforms like Facebook and YouTube while placing a significant moderation burden on platform providers, two of the sources added. The sources asked not to be identified, as discussions about the new rules remain confidential. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications and Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not immediately respond to requests for comment. “The government wants to fix what it sees as the ‘news-lisation’ of social media,” said one source familiar with the talks. “News-lisation”, or báo hoá, is a term used by the authorities to describe the misleading of users into thinking that social media accounts are authorised news outlets. Government officials have been holding confidential meetings with popular social media and internet firms to brief them on which types of accounts will be allowed to post news content under the new rules, according to the sources. Authorities would be able to order social media companies to ban accounts that break those rules, they said. Vietnam’s ruling Communist Party already maintains tight media censorship and tolerates little dissent, with one of the world’s most stringent internet regimes and national guidelines on social media behaviour. Two sources with direct knowledge told Reuters that more rules on internet and social media platforms would be introduced around the fourth quarter of 2022 to early 2023. As tech-savvy young Vietnamese increasingly turn to social media for information, those platforms have become a target for government efforts to restrict the flow of news from unauthorised sources. Vietnam is a top-10 market globally for Facebook with 60 million to 70 million users, according to 2021 data, and sources familiar with the matter said it generates around $1 billion in annual revenue for the company – surpassing France. YouTube has 60 million users in Vietnam and TikTok has 20 million, according to 2021 government estimates, although Twitter remains a relatively small player. Meta Platforms Inc (META.O), owner of Facebook, and Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) declined to comment. Alphabet Inc’s Google and YouTube did not respond to requests for comment. TikTok said in a statement that it addresses content violations based on applicable laws and with adherence to its guidelines, but did not comment on pending Vietnam regulations. The Vietnamese government had adopted in July a set of non-binding guidelines on what qualifies as news outlets, including criteria to distinguish “real” and “fake” news outlets, warning that some social networking sites include accounts that mislead users into thinking they are newspapers. Those guidelines are expected to be incorporated into the new rules, which will be binding. The authorities are also expected to implement new rules that would require social media platforms to immediately take down content deemed to harm national security, and to remove illegal content within 24 hours, sources familiar with the matter said. Sources told Reuters in April that the new rules, which were originally planned for July, reflected the government’s dissatisfaction with social media platforms’ take-down rates. read more This will be done through amendments to the country’s main internet law. Vietnam in August also issued a new regulation, due to come into effect from October, that will require technology firms to store users’ data locally and to set up local offices. OPINION: A Little ‘this And That’ Closing In On November Midterm Elections – NWAOnline https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/opinion-a-little-this-and-that-closing-in-on-november-midterm-elections-nwaonline/ Here I am less than 43 days from the midterm elections and I am cleaning out from the old political notebook with short take items. • • • A “told you so,” to all the critics of saying the Arkansas State Supreme Court would fall into lock-step with the political right in denying Arkansas voters the chance to cast ballots on recreational marijuana in November. While some justices were clearly trying to straddle a fine line on their rulings — all of the justices certainly remember they, too, are elected at the ballot box. Just saying it is no wonder that Justice Robin Wynne of Fordyce, who is standing on the ballot in November, took the lead to let the people’s votes be counted on this less than controversial issue. Arkansas Talk & Business has recently said the “pot issue,” has enough support to pass. I think so as well, even if suddenly the outgoing duo of Governor Asa Hutchinson and Attorney General Leslie Rutledge are jockeying to see who can gain the most political one-up-manship on this issue. • • • Kudos to state Representative Charlene Fite of House District 80, which will no longer exist in northwest Arkansas on Jan. 1, 2023. The District that was one from the Benton County line south across the western edge of Washington County (taking in Lincoln, Prairie Grove, Cane Hill, Evansville and other spots south and west) has been redrawn. The latest award received by Rep. Fite was from the Area Agency on Aging from Western Arkansas, for her dogged fight for $3 million to area senior centers to deliver hot, nutritious meals to seniors at home at the senior centers all over the area. There has been no greater friend to senior centers in northwest Arkansas than Rep. Fite. Just ask any senior center director, food hauler, kitchen helper or senior sitting around in the centers most days. She not only pushed and pushed for the additional funds, Fite often, when visiting the Senior Centers, entertained those there with vocal tunes and spent hours helping with local fundraisers, pie suppers and information about state government. Her new district is mostly Crawford County these days, but she still has friends all over the western edge of Washington County. • • • The biggest loser on the state Supreme Court’s ruling on the “pot issue,” has to be Secretary of State John Thurston. Fearing a mid-term backlash and his re-election up for grabs, Secretary Thurston made a fleeting declaration to the public he didn’t think the ballot title would be sufficient. The state supreme court proved him wrong. The high court sharply rebuked the state Board of Election Commissioners, a new-fangled group of five citizens, to act on ballot measures for stepping over the mark in their ruling. Secretary Thurston was chided by the court of not really doing his all in this mess. It could have been worse than the egg on his face over this matter. • • • It looks like Republican gubernatorial candidate Sarah Huckabee Sanders has been very transparent over a recent personal health issue. She had surgery to remove a suspicious growth on her thyroid. The issue was discussed, closed and over, as it should be. No dodging the media here on this issue. • • • The only real challenge to the May Primary elections, a close race needing a recount by three counties in northwest Arkansas (Franklin, Washington and Crawford Counties) was again raised by the state Supreme Court this past week. It seems the court disagreed with the judge in Franklin County that the case should have been heard and the matter settled. So now it seems, a terrible, narrow seven vote total, may still be flawed and still stand. Elections are precious procedures in the fabric of freedom and need our utmost attention and care. • • • Oct. 11 is the final day to register to vote in the November 8th Midterm elections. • • • — Maylon Rice is a former journalist who worked for several northwest Arkansas publications. He can be reached via email at [email protected] The opinions expressed are those of the author. Print Headline: A little ‘this and that’ closing in on November midterm elections

These Beaches Come With A Bit Of Hollywood History – Greater Milwaukee Today | GMToday.com https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/these-beaches-come-with-a-bit-of-hollywood-history-greater-milwaukee-today-gmtoday-com/ What makes a perfect beach? Soft white sand? Spectacular views? Luxurious amenities? How about a Hollywood connection? From remote, nearly-impossible-to-reach spots to the scenes of some of cinema’s most romantic moments, these beaches all impress on their own merits, but when you consider the addition of movie magic, they could be the perfect spot for your next beach getaway. ‘The Notebook’ Ever since its 2004 release, “The Notebook” has earned a special place in the hearts of romantics across the globe. One of the most iconic moments from the film is when Ryan Gosling delivers his famous line, “If you’re a bird, I’m a bird,” which The Active Times said was shot at El Matador State Beach off the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California. It’s one of three beaches within Robert H. Meyer Memorial State Beach, all of which are open to the public. “Beautiful sea stacks are on the beach and in the surf,” California Beaches said in its report. “This is a popular spot for pro photographers to shoot swimsuit models and stunning sunsets. Explore north on the beach to caves and arches in the rocks. The largest cave faces the ocean at the bottom of a huge flat rock that is connected to the base of the bluff. “It’s best to visit these natural features at low tide. Continuing your walk north leads to La Piedra State Beach. If you walk south you will pass in front of stunning homes on your way to Lechuza Beach.” ‘Cast Away’ Not to be confused with Castaway Island in the Pacific Ocean, the beach from the Tom Hanks 2000 classic “Cast Away” is on the nearby Monuriki Island, according to The Active Times. While the island is uninhabited, tours to the famous film location are available. A visitor from Los Angeles dropped a review of their time on the island through Tripadvisor. “The island itself is uninhabited so you cant ‘stay’ here …” the reviewer wrote. “However most hotels (and even the mainland) allow you to take day trips and excursions to this island, it is reached via boat or jet ski. The island itself has a gorgeous beach with some nice snorkeling. The real beauty is if you do the ‘hike’ up the mountain to the lookout spot. You get spectacular views of the beach as well as other islands in the area that can be pretty breathtaking. The hike itself can be a bit strenuous if you aren’t in shape (like me lol) but overall its worth the hike (about 20-30 minutes if you don’t stop with a bit of climbing involved). I would recommend wearing water shoes if you are visiting the island.” “Pirates of the Caribbean” The Johnny Depp pirate empire began back in 2003 with the iconic “Pirate of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pear.” According to NBC News, the flick’s go-to beach location when Depp and Keira Knightley character were left stranded on an island was part of the Tobago Cays Marine Park in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The classic scene left movie watchers giddily mimicking “Why is the rum gone?” for years to come. The park is uninhabited and protected, but accessible. NBC News said the best way to visit the island is to take a day trip to Petit Tabac from St. Vincent’s Union Island. From there, you can “hop a boat ride on the Scaramouche, a schooner that played the part of merchant ship in the Curse of the Black Pearl.” “Casino Royale” Daniel Craig brought James Bond back into the spotlight with his spectacular “Casino Royale” performance back in 2006. The larger than life beach scene from the classic movie is Cove Beach on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, Travel Channel reported. Cove Beach is a part of the private resort Atlantis, which offers a number of highlight-reel-worthy activities. “Nestled between two private beaches, this sensorial retreat is made for anyone looking to indulge in Bahamian splendor,” the resort said on its website. “The Cove is an elegant hotel perfect for couples seeking a romantic getaway all the way to families in need of a relaxing oasis.” “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” Indiana Jones’ father, Henry Jones (Sean Connery), famously took down a fighter plane with nothing more than an umbrella in “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.” The iconic standoff took place on Monsul Beach in Cabo de Gata National Park in the Andalusia region in southern Spain. According to I Escape, director Steven Spielberg called it “the best beach in Spain.” For those looking to visit the famous vacation spot, consider locking down a room at La Joya de Cabo de Gata. It is close to several beaches, including Monsul Beach. %
