As relations between Ukraine and the US worsen, the UK Prime Minister has taken a central role in negotiations. Keir Starmer has been speaking with Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelensky and leaders from Europe and Canada.
But, as Andrew Marr says, Starmer can only be a "bridge" if Trump is willing to listen. While Trump and his vice president JD Vance withdraw support for Ukraine, effectively "helping Russia kill Ukrainians", this seems increasingly unlikely.
Meanwhile, George Eaton suggests that Brexit Britain is actually in an advantageous position while Trump occupies the White House, as it may avoid US tariffs on European goods and services.
