Reka AI, a startup founded by researchers from Google's DeepMind, Baidu, and Meta, has launched Reka Core, a new multimodal language model that can process text, image, video, and audio inputs.[1] Reka Core is available for free testing, though it is not open-source.[1] The model is claimed to perform well against AI tools from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, based on Reka's own research.[1] When tested by Decrypt, Reka Core was able to generate functional code, outperforming the results from Claude 3 Opus.[1] Reka Core also has built-in safety controls that prevent it from generating harmful or unethical content.[1]
