Die jüdische Migration aus der Sowjetunion nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg (und auch nach deren Auflösung) ist eine der größten in der modernen Geschichte. Insgesamt 2,75 Millionen sowjetische Juden verließen die UdSSR in Richtung Israel, Vereinigte Staaten, Deutschland und anderswo. Die Haltung des sowjetischen Staates gegenüber der Auswanderung war bemerkenswert ambivalent: In einigen Fällen wurde sie erlaubt und sogar gefördert, in anderen wiederum wurde sie kontrolliert und stark eingeschränkt. Die jüdische Auswanderungsbewegung, die in den späten 1960er Jahren entstand und in den 1970er bis 1980er Jahren anhielt, wurde zu einem Beispiel für Widerstand und Aktivismus innerhalb des autoritären Systems, das zunehmend internationale Aufmerksamkeit erregte. Auf die eine oder andere Weise beeinflusste sie das Leben von Hunderttausenden von Menschen und veränderte das Erscheinungsbild vieler Städte und Gemeinden innerhalb und außerhalb der Sowjetunion.
