This was my 7th visit to Everest and once again it was the adventure of a lifetime! The resulting aerial footage in this video is the culmination of nearly a year of training, planning, crashing, experimentation and exhilaration. The ability to capture these unique views with a drone was amazing. Perspective changes everything. When we arrived at Everest Base Camp it was mostly deserted due to the tragic April 18, 2014 avalanche that killed 16 Sherpa and Nepalese guides, and the subsequent cancellation of the Spring climbing season on the South Side of the mountain. Many thanks to my incredible staff of Sherpa guides and porters who made this trip possible and hand carried the fragile aircraft and support gear over these high altitude passes as well as up to Everest Base Camp. I could not have accomplished this goal without their generous help, hard work and sincere friendship. Thanks also to my wonderful 2014 Himalayan Workshops clients for their enthusiasm and support as I was constantly repairing, charging and obsessing over the drones. Video taken at Beaches resort in Ocho Rios Jamaica using the infamous Nikon P900. Purposely left unedited to show how the curvature of the earth obscures ships in the distance which can be demonstrated by adjusting the height you are viewing the ship from. The higher you are the further you can see over the horizon and walla you can see more of the ship. At the highest point of the video up on the stairs I was about 80ft MSL. At the lowest point 5 ft above the water.

Here is the raw video I used in my recent video "Does More Zoom Cause Ships to Come Up Over Horizon? Flat Earth". It was filmed with a Nikon P1000 from Omanu Beach car park on Feb 28th 2019. The closest ship is the Glorious Mahuta, distance = 8.86 miles. The "submerged" ship on the left is the Princess Paula, distance = 12.6 miles.
