The results are in for the L&D Global Sentiment Survey 2026, the 13th annual check of the pulse of L&D worldwide. Thank you to the 3,797 people from 105 countries who took part. The key take aways: 𝟭. 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗱 Last year the USA's vote for AI dropped. This year the world followed, reducing the vote for 𝘈𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 by just 0.1% That is enough to say that AI fever has peaked. It doesn't mean we know how to use it yet. Just that it’s moved from novelty to part of daily life. 𝟮. 𝗟&𝗗 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗜 - 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯/𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 (#3) has risen for three years in a row, driven by interest in AI. Meanwhile 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘺𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴 (#9) fell for the third year in a row. Both 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 have received a boost from the power of AI. So what's going on? 𝟯. 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲'𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘀 Last year's big story was the recovery of 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘦 (#5). It rose again this year, to an all-time high. Is this because we can now show L&D's value using AI, or because people are afraid that if they don't, their jobs are at risk? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments. 𝟰. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 95% of respondents answered the question 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘣𝘪𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘓&𝘋 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦?, sharing their concerns in over 40,000 words. But we received almost the same number of words in answer to 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘯 𝘓&𝘋 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 12 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘴 𝘢𝘨𝘰? Challenges are real, but are being met by action. 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆: The survey ran for 76 days from 17 November 2025 to 31 January 2026. It had six questions, of which only one was obligatory: 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘓&D in 2026? Here is more about the so-called "benefits" of "AI": "One of the promises of AI is that it can reduce workloads so employees can focus more on higher-value and more engaging tasks. But according to new research, AI tools don’t reduce work, they consistently intensify it: In the study, employees worked at a faster pace, took on a broader scope of tasks, and extended work into more hours of the day, often without being asked to do so. That may sound like a win, but it’s not quite so simple. These changes can be unsustainable, leading to workload creep, cognitive fatigue, burnout, and weakened decision-making. The productivity surge enjoyed at the beginning can give way to lower quality work, turnover, and other problems." I know, I know some will still answer with "But, but, but..." until the end of time... Because for some, it is easier to find a new excuse than to acknowledge the huge pile of limitations, pushback against, and impossibilities of "AI." Very probably because of their not understanding it or how it actually works in the first place. Or because of their inability to give up on BS. Innovation doesn’t replace, but it just reinvents. According to this Gartner study: "67% of mature organizations are creating new roles for generative AI, and 87% already have a dedicated AI team." 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴: - AI Architect - Head of AI - AI Developer - AI Product Manager - Knowledge Engineer - Model Manager - Model Validator - AI Risk & Governance Specialist - Prompt Engineer - AI Ethicist - Data & AI Translator - Chief AI Officer … and many more. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀? Start learning AI now! Understand the basics of AI and experiment with AI tools in your domain. Keep learning — AI evolves every day! In my opinion: 𝘈𝘐 𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘱𝘵!
