It covers data protection and privacy for all individuals in the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), and exports of personal data to other EU and EEA countries. Despite the GDPR regulation being implemented on May 25, 2018, many blogs are not GDPR-compliant. I suspect that bloggers from outside the EU assume they don’t have to comply with GDPR. These bloggers are wrong. Any blog with visitors from the European Union is required to comply with GDPR. [adinserterblock=”3′”]It doesn’t matter if your blog collects user information or sells products; if your website uses cookies (which it does), then you will be subject to GDPR. These are just a few of the many ways you could be collecting user information that you might not have thought about. Subscribers can subscribe to your WordPress blog. Visitors can also post comments to your WordPress blog. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. You should at the very minimum, be creating an email list and tracking your visitors to your blog using Google Analytics. What happens if your website is not GDPR-compliant? Violators of the GDPR could be subject to fines up to EUR20 Million or 4% of their annual income, depending on which is higher. Okay, it is unlikely that you will be fined EUR20 Million (or $22.66 millions US) tomorrow. But wouldn’t it make your mind easier to comply and avoid a fine? You can also ensure that visitors are aware of your GDPR compliance and establish trust from the very beginning. How to make your blog GDPR-compliant Your blog must disclose all data collected and the reasons. The blog must state for how long data will be kept and if it will be shared with any third parties. This may sound complicated, but it is actually quite simple. First, you will need a Privacy Policy Page. WordPress can assist you in creating one if you don’t have one. You can find the following paragraph by going to Settings Privacy within your WordPress Administration Panel. Do you need help creating your Privacy Policy page? Our guide provides recommendations for content and policies that can be included, as well as suggestions from your theme or plugins. “Check out our Guide” will link to your privacy policy. Next, install and enable the ‘cookie consent plugin. This plugin allows your visitors to easily see and accept tracking cookies and other terms. I installed the GDPR cookie consent plugin via my WordPress Administration panel. I customized the look and link appearance by going through the plugin’s tabs and linking to them. I changed the message in the cookie bar and chose the colors I liked. Finally, I linked to my Privacy Policy under the “Customize Buttons”, and the “Read More Link” sections. Once I was done, all that was left was to check the site to ensure the plugin was functioning properly. NOTICE: Although the plugin will not make your blog GDPR-compliant, it is a step in the right direction. Ad Inserter Ad management software by Igor Funa permits advertising (such as Google AdSense Ads, DoubleClick and Amazon Native Shopping Ads Ads), to be placed anywhere on your WordPress blog. It checks your comments against Akismet to determine if they are spam. You can also review any spam it has caught under your “Comments” admin screen. The screenshot below shows that Akismet has protected my blog from 377.052 spam comments. Akismet is used on all of my blogs. Akismet will require an API key. Follow the instructions to activate the plugin. Broken Link Checker Just as the name implies. This plugin is a great addition to my blog. It is now on all of my blogs. I love it when I use it. However, there is a huge caveat to this plugin. It was years ago that the Broken Link Checker sent so many empty clicks to CJ merchants, that they sent me an advisory letter to stop its use. My CJ account almost went bankrupt. However, the account was actually suspended for a time! The new Gutenberg block editor was introduced with WordPress 5.0. I now use it sparingly. This plugin allows you to use the WordPress classic editor as well as the Edit Post screen in the old style with TinyMCE and Meta Boxes. This plugin supports older plugins that expand this screen. It has helped me get rid of a lot of frustrations! ! To ensure that Exex-PHP doesn’t break any php code in pages or posts, you must deactivate the Visual Editor. If you use the Visual Editor to modify, or save a blog post containing php. The visual editor is almost non-existent for me. I prefer to use the “Preview Changes” button to preview how the post will look. ExecPHP ExecPHP is used to execute PHP code within posts, pages, and text widgets. Also see the ‘Deactive Visual editor’ plugin. External Links Marks outbound hyperlinks as such. There are many effects that can be configured under Settings / External Link. Affiliate marketing is about driving traffic to advertisers in order to encourage clicks, sales, and can be used to promote a wide variety of products. Affiliate marketing is about driving traffic to advertisers in order to encourage clicks, sales, and it can also be used to promote a wide variety of products. Although this is usually done with products that are more frequently used, there are many affiliate programs available for products at higher price points. High-ticket affiliate marketing is a great option for publishers looking to increase their commissions for every successful conversion. What is high-ticket affiliate marketing? Affiliate marketing with high commissions is a type that offers large commissions. Although there is not a price point at which a product becomes high-ticket, it is possible to consider commissions exceeding $100 per sale. This strategy is used by some affiliate marketers (publishers), to make more profit on fewer sales. They focus on higher-end products and services that earn higher commissions. Traditional affiliate marketing is best suited for lower-ticket items. Lower price tags mean lower commissions. This means that you will need to sell a lot of products to build a profitable business. You can focus on key sales and not many. How to master high-ticket affiliate marketing You must establish a niche. When you first start out as an affiliate marketer you will need to build a following with people who share your interests. This will allow you to target your niche with your affiliate marketing campaign. You must demonstrate authority, trustworthiness and expertise in one field to be successful with high-ticket programs. Select the right programs. Once you have established your niche, it is time to review and promote products and services that fit it. Choose your top-ticket programs carefully. You should choose programs that you believe in, research the market, and do your homework on the seller. You must have confidence that the campaign will succeed in the long-term. This is possible by convincing your audience that the product or service they are vouching for will be of value to them and communicating this effectively to them. ShareASale’s Merchant Search allows you to easily search the profiles of any advertiser on the network. You can also browse businesses by industry if you don’t know of an advertiser. You can easily compare the commission rates of different advertisers by looking at their merchant profiles. This will allow you to quickly identify and promote high-ticket affiliate programs and brands that you love. High-ticket affiliate marketing is not a one-size fits all approach. It’s up to you to experiment and discover what works for you, your audience, and the product or services you are promoting. To stay competitive, you should test different marketing strategies and keep up to date with current trends. To help you get started, many advertisers offer a variety of promotional content such as banner ads. You can also find dedicated support teams available to help you improve your approach. You will be a better affiliate partner if you work closely with the brand that you are promoting. Affiliate programs with high-ticket commissions There are many high-ticket affiliate programs available for every industry, from health and fitness to marketing, business, and entrepreneurship. Awin and ShareASale offer lucrative high-ticket affiliate programs that can be used to promote Equinox, HP, and Booking.com. Let’s take a closer look at some of these programs and learn about the benefits they off...

Elon Musk purchased Twitter in October 2022 because he wanted to create a platform that was “maximally trusted” and encourages “free speech.” Did you believe him? I didn’t. And I just learned about his new “blue-tick” verification policy, which basically means that you will now have to pay to be viral on Twitter. I don’t believe I was proven wrong. A man who is not interested in making money through Twitter is unlikely to hide most of Twitter behind a paywall. I will be sharing the details about the new “blue-tick” policy, its implications for businesses, and the best ways to deal with the challenges it presents. What did Elon Musk say? Only verified accounts are eligible to participate in For You recommendations starting April 15th. This is the only way to stop advanced AI bot swarms from taking over. Otherwise, it is a losing battle. For the same reason, voting in polls will require verification. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk), March 27, 2023 Let’s get to the point. Is this really what the second-richest man in the world is saying about this announcement? Three things Elon Musk is doing: Musk will begin to phase out Twitter’s blue tick verification process in April 2023. The Twitter Blue check mark, which was used to identify accounts that had met certain criteria, was issued only to those accounts. The ceremonial blue badge of honor was not given for money. It was earned. This is what made the blue badge of honor credible. To keep their blue tick, legacy Twitter Verified users must pay $8+ per month starting April 15, 2023. Musk will also be introducing a new blue-tick verification process, Twitter Blue, beginning April 15, 2023. Anyone can get a blue check mark on their profile starting April 15. They don’t have to meet any specific criteria. They only need to prove that they are the person they claim to be. Blue tick twitterers will have the ability to post longer tweets, edit and un-send tweets, and vote in polls. They can also have their content prioritized in searches and in people’s “For You”, feed* (no voice, tick, or tick) and they can use two-factor authentication (no tick and no security). Musk launched a new scheme called the “blue tick for businesses” last December. A business that pays Musk $1,000 per month (minimum) will get a GOLD checkmark on their profile. This will make them a “Verified Organization”. This gold badge of honour will allow verified organizations to get the same Twitter Blue privileges that a “normal” blue ticker. They’ll also be able to add affiliates (for $50 per month), to expand their network. Musk claims that users will still have access to the accounts they follow, despite the backlash caused by the prioritization blue tick content in search results and in people’s “For You” feeds. Why is Elon Musk doing this? “It is the only real way to stop advanced AI bot swarms from taking over. It would be a losing battle. Musk stated that if he gives verified blue-tick users more visibility by prioritizing their tweets and searching-and algorithmically suppressing the non-blue-tick tweeters, he will expose and eliminate all bots, trolling farms and fake accounts from the platform. He might think that Twitter’s real people, who are true to their word, will sign up in droves to be part of the blue-tick brigade so their content can be seen by others. Bots cannot pay subscriptions. Fake accounts cannot prove their identity. If all “real” people are authenticated by paying $8 per month, the only remaining ones without a blue check will be bots, spammers and fakers. Perhaps this is the real reason Musk’s noble quest to banish bad bots from Twitter is admirable. However, I don’t b...

While using custom web fonts is a great way to make your site more unique and distinguish your branding, it can also come with certain problems — from privacy to performance. The solution: host your fonts locally on your WordPress website instead. To help you do so, in this post, we will tell you everything you need to know about this topic. Below, we discuss why it’s a good idea to host fonts locally in WordPress in the first place and then give you a rundown of code and no-code solutions to make it happen in both classic themes and WordPress block themes. Hosting Web Fonts Locally vs Remotely So, the first thing we probably have to talk about is what hosting fonts locally even means. These days, a lot of people use so-called web fonts to change the typography on their websites. Those are font files that typically load from a third-party service, the most popular of which is Google Fonts. It has a huge library of free fonts that you can use on your website by simply adding a special link to it. Then, when someone requests to see your site, they load remotely so that you can display them to visitors. Google Fonts is also integrated into many themes so that users can switch their font face very easily. In contrast to that, when you host fonts locally, your font files don’t load from a remote server like Google’s but instead reside on your own server and visitors receive them from there. In the end, both achieve the same thing just in different ways. Why Should You Locally Host Fonts in WordPress? There are many good reasons to put font files on your own server instead of using a third-party solution: Privacy concerns — Especially if you are subject to European privacy laws, using web fonts particularly from Google can be problematic. The company collects visitor IP addresses and other information, which you need to mention in your privacy policy if you want to use them. Otherwise, you risk being fined. To avoid issues like this, many people simply opt to host fonts locally instead.Fond availability — The problem with using third-party hosted fonts is that you make yourself dependent on the service that provides them. If they go out of business, have a server breakdown, or if their URL changes for some reason, all of a sudden your site is without the typeface you chose. While that’s not likely in the case of Google, you never know, and crazier things have happened.Wider selection — While established libraries offer a wide range of different fonts, there is a lot more available that’s not in web font form. Consequently, knowing how to host fonts locally gives you many more possibilities to purchase and use premium fonts.Performance — When hosting your own fonts, you have full control over how they load. You can configure their caching and fix any issues on your own server. In addition, hosting your own fonts results in fewer HTTP requests as you don’t need to pull in data from another connection. All of the above is good for site performance. Disadvantages and Caveats At the same time, there are also some factors that speak against hosting fonts on your local server: Performance, again — Google Fonts especially are set up in way that offers high performance. They have a CDN to serve font files from the nearest server. In addition, many of the most popular fonts are already in most browsers’ caches. As a consequence, they load faster than your premium custom font. It’s the same reason why you shouldn’t host your own videos. For all the reasons above, it’s a good idea to use your own CDN if you are going to use local fonts.Higher complexity — Setting up your font files locally is more difficult than, say, going...

We all know what happens when a community splits into two or more conflicting sides. Imagine a property developer attempting to transform the peaceful green space of the town into a bustling commercial area with shops, cafes, apartments, and shops. This would be a positive development for the local economy, according to some members of the community. Some might view it as a positive change in the local economy, lifestyle, or culture. These differing opinions could cause friction in the community and lead to its disintegration. This is the same for an online community that is brand-led. They are just as susceptible to outside influences and have different views than a local community. Perhaps even more so. Every year, 70% of online communities that are brand-based fail. What can you do to build your online community if it fails? Let’s find out. What causes an online community led by a brand to fail? It is becoming increasingly difficult to sell using traditional marketing methods like TV and print ads. Consumers are too fickle and savvy to believe glossy advertisements promising them the moon. They want something more than just a catchy slogan or pretty picture. They are looking for authenticity. They desire inclusion. They want to feel like they are a person and not just a number. They want to feel part of a company when they use or purchase from a brand. “84% of customers believe that being treated as a person and not a number is important in winning their business.” – Duel. Dare I say it? Customers want companyrelationships, and commitment. Brand-led online communities are the best solution to build trust and relationships with customers. Brands can communicate with their customers through an online community. They can engage their customers in two-way conversation and treat them as people with real opinions, values, and thoughts. Marketing professionals agree that creating an online community is a key part of their marketing strategy. However, 88% fail to survive. Why? Online communities don’t work because the results aren’t immediately visible It takes time to build trust and nurture relationships. Marketers don’t have much time. Marketers are constantly under pressure to discover and exploit new opportunities, provide solid leads for teams, and convert uninterested individuals into sales. We require results now. It’s no surprise that online communities are often pushed to the bottom of the priority list when it comes to spending time and money on campaigns to generate immediate conversions. Online communities are a failure because customers feel like they’re customers and not people. 17% of online communities end up failing because companies use the space to market themselves, rather than serving their members. Communities should be safe and neutral spaces that allow for free flow of ideas about industry-related topics. These communities shouldn’t be used as a way to force hard marketing messages down the throats of people. It should be possible for community members to have meaningful conversations with others who share similar interests. Online communities don’t succeed because community development isn’t part of budgets and strategies 31% of online communities end up failing because they lack the support needed to thrive. We know that community development is often overlooked in favour of short-term campaign wins. Many brands don’t bother to include community building in their marketing strategies and budgets. It is seen as a check-box exercis...

If you are serious about social media marketing or content creation, then you should know when the best time is to post on TikTok. Your videos will be seen more, engage more and have a higher social media ROI. What is the best TikTok time to post? Let’s take a look at the most recent research and see how we can tap it. Best times to post on TikTok in Peak Traffic According to Influencer Marketing hub, the following are TikTok’s peak traffic times. Is a peak time for social media channels the best time to post on TikTok? Not necessarily. Peak times on social media channels simply mean that there are more users at those times. These might not be the best times for posting, however. (More about that later. hbspt.forms.create( region: “na1”, portalId: “8477337”, formId: “0d60bd84-a53e-4373-b69e-49181f6c3ef6″ Monday: 6 AM, 10AM, 10 PM These times indicate that users check their accounts before going to bed, before they go to work or school. Mondays can be hard in real life, and for social media managers too. Think about what value you can add to your Monday content. You can post a humorous Monday video like @olgisthesiberian, or you can perk up your viewers with a great deal. @olgisthesiberian #mondayagain #mondaymood #cattok #olgisthesiberian #siberiancat #monday original sound – Lorena Pages Tuesday: 2 AM-4 AM, 9 AM What is the point of you all getting up at 3 AM on Tuesdays to check TikTok. Marketers, schedule a trending meme at 2AM to stop people scrolling. Wednesday: 7 AM, 8 AM, 11 PM You can do this before work, school or even bedtime. Marketers shouldn’t post serious content on Fridays if they aren’t working. We don’t want that. You can see Kevin, from accounts, as he races out of the office at 5:30 PM. You can also record the Friday pizza session. Saturday: 11 AM, 7PM, 8 PM TikTok users who post later in the morning get better results because they are all sleeping in and waking later. Saturdays may not be the best time for your B2B business. Many B2B decision-makers switch off completely on weekends. Be aware of trends such as #SelfCareSaturday. Continue reading to find out what a micro-influencer looks like, how you can become one, and why affiliate marketing is mutually beneficial for brands and micro-influencers. What does it mean to be a micro-influencer Micro-influencers are just what they sound like: an influencer who offers niche content to a smaller audience. Influencers are content creators on social media, whether they’re on Instagram, Pinterest or YouTube. Influencers are used by companies to promote their products as they have a large following that trusts and values the insights and opinions of their chosen influencer. Micro-influencers, on the other hand, are people with smaller followings and niche content. Influencers may be known for their reach to millions. Although there is no set criteria, it is common for micro-influencers to have between 1,000 and 10,000 followers. Although this might seem like a small number compared to the major influencers, it would make you highly desirable for brands. Advertisers would find you a valuable asset as a micro-influencer. You’ll have a highly engaged audience and can be more interactive than bigger influencers. This could make it easier for them to market to their products. Influencers have become such an effective tool in advertising that they are rarely a cost-effective option for brands. Although it might seem impossible to get a TikTok celebrity with millions of followers to promote your brand or product, you can still make a great impression by reaching out to their micro counterpart. Although you might not have the same reach as a larger influencer, they have a growing, engaged audience. However, the brand would still target a strong audience that values their opinion and is more likely to buy the products being endorsed. It is a great idea to establish working relationships early with micro-influencers, especially if your platform is growing rapidly. Micro-influencers can also make money by working with brands to promote their products. This will help them to become a trusted source and build their audience. How to become a micro-influencer There is no single way to be successful in micro-influencer-marketing. It will take time to get to know the system, but there are many things you can do to tailor your content to achieve strong results. Find your niche Micro-influencers are highly respected in their niche. You must ensure that you are creating relevant, regular content that keeps your audience coming back for more. You will need to be passionate about your niche, whether you are a lifestyle blogger, a fitness model, or a travel photographer, to make sure you are a reliable source of information. It’s important to choose a niche that’s not over-crowded with influencers. Without going so niche, you won’t have the ability to build a strong following. Micro-influencers are more successful in niches that aren’t as well-known. You’ll attract a larger audience if your subject isn’t covered by many influencers. Although you might not want to limit your options when you are looking into affiliate marketing as an influencer, brands will be more inclined to do business with you if you can show that you are a trustworthy, knowledgeable voice in a relevant field to their product. Be cons...
