Celestory - Create your customized training
Tool for creating branching scenario training or interactive games. I haven't tried this yet, but there's a free version that would be enough to test it out. The tool collects data on user behavior. The website says it's using AI to analyze behavior, but it's not quite clear exactly what that AI is doing.

Making people aware of their implicit biases doesn’t usually change minds. But here’s what does work | PBS NewsHour
Making people aware of their implicit biases doesn’t usually change minds. But here’s what does work | PBS NewsHour
"Discretion elimination" means changing systems to make choices more objective and less subject to the effects of implicit bias. First, you need data to know where the problems are so you know how to change the systems.
And once you know what’s happening, the next step is what I call discretion elimination. This can be applied when people are making decisions that involve subjective judgment about a person. This could be police officers, employers making hiring or promotion decisions, doctors deciding on a patient’s treatment, or teachers making decisions about students’ performance. When those decisions are made with discretion, they are likely to result in unintended disparities. But when those decisions are made based on predetermined, objective criteria that are rigorously applied, they are much less likely to produce disparities.

What are the downsides to using stories for training and development? - Training Films You'd Watch at Home | Video Production for L&D | Sage Media
The version of storytelling apparently assumed as the basis of this article is when a trainer shares an anecdote or story with a moral during live training. While that's not generally how I use storytelling in my own work, some of the issues here are relevant to elearning and interactive storytelling too. Stories should be relevant and connect to the goals of the course. You should revise your writing to polish it (although I think the note about revising dozens of times for a movie script isn't really relevant to training--none of us have that much time for revisions, nor do we need it to be that kind of quality).

Success Case Method | Better Evaluation
Success Case Method | Better Evaluation
Overview of Brinkerhoff's Success Case Method for evaluating training programs. In this method, you gather stories from some of the most and least successful participants.
The Success Case Method deliberately looks at the most, and least, successful participants of a program. The purpose is not to examine the average performance - rather, by identifying and examining the extreme cases, it asks: 'When the program works, how well does it work? What is working, and what is not?'.

Deskilling on the Job | danah boyd | apophenia
Reflection from danah boyd on how AI might affect work as it augments jobs. If AI is doing large parts of the easy work in jobs, how do new people in a field gain skills? How do we help people maintain skills they need during a crisis if AI is doing those tasks when they are routine? There are no clear answers here, but I appreciate the thoughtful questions.

ChatGPT Prompts for Business Videos | ChatGPT Script Prompts
20 sample prompts for scripting animated videos. 5 of these are specifically in their L&D category; some of the HR and other prompts are also relevant to training. The most useful part of this article may be the Sample Script Makeover at the end though, showing the process of using ChatGPT for a first draft but also explaining how to revise and improve the script. That's how many of us will be using these tools: as a first draft that we need to revise.

Learning Development Pricing Calculator - LXD Central
Learning Development Pricing Calculator - LXD Central

I appreciate the detailed breakdowns of time estimates per task in this article. This would be a very helpful way to create a project plan, even if you've never created an ILT or elearning course before.

However, note the caveat about the hourly rate at the bottom. The calculator uses $60 or $65/hour for pricing, but that's what a vendor would pay its own employees. If you're buying from a vendor, the cost is likely much higher. (Although apparently I'm not taking nearly enough profit for myself if vendors are typically pricing at 2.5 times their cost.)

<span style="font-size: 1rem;">How much should you pay for a learning solution? Why does one vendor quote $5,000 and another $20,000? At its core, the price of a learning solution is a very simple equation –&nbsp;</span><strong style="font-size: 1rem;">Rate x Effort = Price.</strong>
For those organizations that buy learning from third-party vendors these prices may seem quite low, and they are. The $65 rate is commensurate with what one of those companies would pay an employee but does not include all of the overheads, cost of sale, and profit that company would typically account for in the price. As a rule of thumb, a custom learning company will price at about 60% gross margin, which in short-hand means you multiple direct costs by 2.5.
