Baseline stool toxin concentration is associated with risk of recurrence in children with Clostridioides difficile infection - PubMed
Higher baseline stool toxin concentrations are present in children with CDI recurrence. Toxin quantification should be included in CDI treatment trials to evaluate its use in severity assessment and outcome prediction.

Clostridioides difficile-mesocolonic oedema in neonatal suckling piglets develops regardless of the fibre composition in sow's diets - PubMed
Maternal dietary factors have been reported to influence Clostridioides difficile colonisation in the offspring. Twenty suckling piglets from sows fed diets supplemented with high-fermentable sugar beet pulp (SBP) or low-fermentable lignocellulose (LNC) fibres during gestation and lactation were dis …

Clostridioides difficile is an opportunistic spore-forming pathogen responsible for antibiotic-associated diarrhea in humans. C. difficile produces two main toxins: TcdA and TcdB as well as a third toxin named binary toxin (CDT) that is also involved in virulence. The present study aimed at characte …

The gut mycobiome in health, disease, and clinical applications in association with the gut bacterial microbiome assembly
The gut mycobiome in health, disease, and clinical applications in association with the gut bacterial microbiome assembly
The gut mycobiome (fungi) is a small but crucial component of the gut microbiome in humans. Intestinal fungi regulate host homoeostasis, pathophysiological and physiological processes, and the assembly of the co-residing gut bacterial microbiome. Over the past decade, accumulating studies have characterised the gut mycobiome in health and several pathological conditions. We review the compositional and functional diversity of the gut mycobiome in healthy populations from birth to adulthood. We describe factors influencing the gut mycobiome and the roles of intestinal fungi—especially Candida and Saccharomyces spp—in diseases and therapies with a particular focus on their synergism with the gut bacterial microbiome and host immunity.
