Several articles say that cold processed DMSO contains less DMS (Dimethyl Sulfide) and reduces the 'garlic odor' that people experience with low grade products. Some people are sensitive to the smell of DMSO so they may want to start out with a very weak 1% solution by using an eyedropper. DMSO Guidelines
DMSO can be administered orally (1% to 5% at small doses), topically, intranasally and as an IV. DMSO might help in dozens of metabolic disorders. Just don't take too much. Watch for dropping blood pressure. DMSO can also increase the bioavailability of medications, so caution is advised, and reduction of medication dosages may be needed. Unfortunately, while reviewing DMSO research on PubMed I'm finding conflicting studies that suggest it may cause problems for people that suffer from Type 1 diabetes, kidney and liver pathologies. Ironically, one study suggests it may prevent Type 1 diabetes. It will take some time to review the hundreds of studies and form a conclusion, if one is possible. CAUTION is advised at this time.
