Serrapeptase Benefits, Dosage, Dangers, and Side Effects
Serrapeptase is an enzyme that’s been used in Japan and Europe for decades for pain and inflammation. This article reviews the benefits, dosage, and potential dangers and side effects of serrapeptase.
Natural Pain Killer With Powerful Ability to Remove Blood Clots and Dead Tissue - Serrapeptase
Serrapeptase, first derived from a species of bacteria found in the intestine of the silkworm, has immense applications in therapeutic areas which have been validated by several studies

Biomarkers of Arginine and Lysine Excess The Journal of Nutrition Oxford Academic
Abstract. Arginine supplementation is used in several disease states. In arginine-deficient states, supplementation is a logical choice of therapy. However, the
Leucine partially protects muscle mass and function during bed rest in middle-aged adults - PubMed
Bed rest has a profoundly negative effect on muscle metabolism, mass, and function in middle-aged adults. Leucine supplementation may partially protect muscle health during relatively brief periods of physical inactivity. This trial was registered at clinicaltrials.gov as NCT00968344.
Effect of beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate, arginine, and lysine supplementation on strength, functionality, body composition, and protein metabolism in elderly women
These studies indicated that daily supplementation of beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate, arginine, and lysine for 12 wk positively alters measurements of functionality, strength, fat-free mass, and protein synthesis, suggesting that the strategy of targeted nutrition has the ability to affect muscle …
The Effects of Beta-Hydroxy-Beta-Methylbutyrate-Free Acid Supplementation and Resistance Training on Oxidative Stress Markers A Randomized,Study
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of 6-week beta-hydroxy-beta methylbutyrate-free acid (HMB-FA) supplementation on oxidative stress and biochemical variables in responses to resistance training. Sixteen healthy young males participated ...
Combined protein and calcium ß-hydroxy-ß-methylbutyrate induced gains in leg fat free mass a double-blinded, placebo-controlled study - PubMed
Combined protein and HMB supplementation resulted in segmental, but not whole-body increases in FFM compared to protein supplementation alone. These findings could explain some of the controversial effects of HMB reported in previous studies and have practical implications for maximizing training-in …
Effects of Beta-Hydroxy-Beta-Methylbutyrate Supplementation on Elderly Body Composition and Muscle Strength A Review of Clinical Trials - PubMed
Our findings suggest that HMB has a positive effect on body composition and strength, especially in bedridden or sedentary elderly, due to its anticatabolic properties.
Health Benefits of ß-Hydroxy-ß-Methylbutyrate (HMB) Supplementation in Addition to Physical Exercise in Older Adults A Systematic Review with Meta-Analysis - PubMed
Both regular exercise training and beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate (HMB) supplementation are shown as effective treatments to delay or reverse frailty and reduce cognitive impairment in older people. However, there is very little evidence on the true benefits of combining both strategies. The aim o …
Effects of oral administration of ß-hydroxy ß-methylbutyrate on lean body mass in older adults a systematic review and meta-analysis - PubMed
HMB supplementation is beneficial for improving body composition in older people. However, the effect of HMB supplementation combined with exercise therapy to improve muscle mass is not obvious. Exercise programs need to be designed according to the different physical health of older people.
Maintenance of Skeletal Muscle to Counteract Sarcopenia in Patients with Advanced Chronic Kidney Disease and Especially Those Undergoing Hemodialysis - PubMed
Life extension in modern society has introduced new concepts regarding such disorders as frailty and sarcopenia, which has been recognized in various studies. At the same time, cutting-edge technology methods, e.g., renal replacement therapy for conditions such as hemodialysis (HD), have made it pos …
Effect of beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate supplementation on muscle loss in older adults a systematic review and meta-analysis - PubMed
Beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate supplementation contributed to preservation of muscle mass in older adults. HMB supplementation may be useful in the prevention of muscle atrophy induced by bed rest or other factors. Further studies are needed to determine the precise effects of HMB on muscle streng …
L-Arginine-Nitric Oxide-Asymmetric Dimethylarginine Pathway and the Coronary Circulation Translation of Basic Science Results to Clinical Practice
By 1980, it was thought that we already knew most of the major mechanisms regulating vascular tone. However, after the somewhat serendipity discovery that endothelium is involved in mediation of relaxation to acetylcholine, a whole new world opened up ...
The Effects of Oral l-Arginine and l-Citrulline Supplementation on Blood Pressure
Nitric oxide (NO) is a well-known vasodilator produced by the vascular endothelium via the enzyme endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS). The inadequate production of NO has been linked to elevated blood pressure (BP) in both human and animal studies, ...
Frontiers Lysine and arginine reduce the effects of cerebral ischemic insults and inhibit glutamate-induced neuronal activity in rats Frontiers in Integrative Neuroscience
Intravenous administration of arginine was shown to be protective against cerebral ischemic insults via nitric oxide production and possibly via additional mechanisms. The present study aimed at evaluating the neuroprotective effects of oral administration of lysine (a basic amino acid), arginine, and their combination on ischemic insults (cerebral edema and infarction) and hemispheric brain swelling induced by transient middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion in rats. Magnetic resonance imaging and 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining were performed 2 days after ischemia induction. In control animals, the major edematous areas were observed in the cerebral cortex and striatum. The volumes associated with cortical edema were significantly reduced by lysine (2.0 g/kg), arginine (0.6 g/kg), or their combined administration (0.6 g/kg each). Protective effects of these amino acids on infarction were comparable to the inhibitory effects on edema formation. Interestingly, these amino acids, even at low dose (0.6 g/kg), were effective to reduce hemispheric brain swelling. Additionally, the effects of in vivo microiontophoretic (juxtaneuronal) applications of these amino acids on glutamate-evoked neuronal activity in the ventromedial hypothalamus were investigated in awake rats. Glutamate-induced neuronal activity was robustly inhibited by microiontophoretic applications of lysine or arginine onto neuronal membranes. Taken together, our results demonstrate the neuropr...
Exogenous L-arginine increases intestinal stem cell function through CD90+ stromal cells producing mTORC1-induced Wnt2b
The renewal and repair of intestinal epithelium depend on the self-renewal of intestinal stem cells (ISCs) under physiological and pathological conditions. Although previous work has established that exogenous nutrients regulate adult stem cell activity, ...
Uric Acid - A Pivotal Player in Metabolic Diseases - Dr. David Perlmutter
Having elevated uric acid indicates high blood pressure. New research demonstrates that lowering uric acid with allopurinol results in lower blood pressure.
