On April 10, 2015, the Canadian Glycomics Network (GlycoNet), a national network, officially launched. A celebration was held at the University of Alberta, with a program emceed by Jay Ingram, a science broadcaster and past host of Discovery Channel's Daily Planet and CBC's Quirks and Quarks.
Glycomics is the study of sugars in biological processes. In this video, Jay Ingram explains the way in which glycomics is central to everyday life, and describes its potential as an emerging scientific field.
