Another tidbit from my Dwiggins/Linotype files:
In late April 1947, C.H. Griffith wrote a letter to Dwiggins with the heading “A Study in Proportion”.
CHG had been puzzling over something in the final sizing of the Falcon series. He had the drawings and punches checked against the master graphs, and all checked out. But it turns out there had been a slight error by the factory in shaving the side bearings of the test matrices “at a time when several new inspectors were being broken in.”
