Democratic Republic of the Congo deepens investigation on cluster of illness and community deaths in Equateur province
The mystery illness in the Congo… has killed over 60 people… but it’s not Ebola or Marburg viruses. It’s something else. Half the samples are positive for malaria (endemic in the Congo), but they don’t think this is malaria. Some think it’s a new virus.

💊 If you get the flu, you can ask for antivirals, OR get them to *prevent flu* if you’ve been exposed (ie prophylaxis). This is standard stuff but MDs are not always on it. Take asap. Don’t wait more than a few days. XOfluza is better than Tamiflu. Elderberry works well, too.— Dana Parish (@danaparish) February 15, 2025

On Sunday night, I had two really sick patients. Neither was intubated, but both were on the edge. The one kept jumping up, with the BiPAP on, pulling it off and screaming. I knew it was time. His ABG showed an intubation was necessary. The second one got intubated right at shift change. What an absolute mess. I asked if we could subtype their flu and was given an empathetic no. I hope y'all are masking and keeping safe. This 'flu' is unwithfuckable. Peace.”

“Just giving you guys a heads up. Unfortunately, I think we are headed for another pandemic and to be honest, I think we are already in the middle of it. I have basically 5 hospitals and over 100 clinics in our health system, and I have not seen it this bad since covid slammed us. All of our area hospitals are full, we can no longer depend on the CDC for truth on anything, and many doctors are sounding the alarm.

We just opened our drive through testing facilities again. We are encouraging telehealth visits instead of in person if at all possible.

Right now Covid, Flu, and RSV are running rampant... However, its this new mystery illness that is really going fucking nuts. In my direct department of 80+ people, I had 24 out with it in one week. Several of those turned into pneumonia .. 2 were hospitalized.”

I strongly believe this is the result of one of two things, and NEITHER are good and BOTH should give your soul rabies if you choose to ignore these possibilities.

This is EITHER H5N1 (bird flu) or immune system exhaustion from repeated chronic SARS-CoV-2 infections.”

Dead on Arrival: The Signals We’re Ignoring… Again
Dead on Arrival: The Signals We’re Ignoring… Again

“Dead on Arrival: The Signals We’re Ignoring… Again

In NYC, when someone dies at home, a green flier appears on the door—a quiet but grim signal of loss. The medical term? Dead on arrival.

Another signal? Searches for "refrigerator trucks" are rising again. Last time they peaked was 2020, when NYC ran out of mortuary capacity.

Meanwhile:
➡️ NYC hospitals are now subtyping for H5N1. ➡️ The city is experiencing its worst flu season since 1997. ➡️ Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) outpatient visits last week hit 13.6%—the second highest ever recorded in NYC’s 2010-2025 dataset.
➡️ The only time it was worse? First week of April 2020 (14.2%).

We’ve seen these warning signs before.
Are we paying attention this time?”
