Germany’s Former First Lady Sues Google For Defamation Over Autocomplete Suggestions | TechCrunch
When you search for “Bettina Wulff” on Google, the search engine will happily autocomplete this search with terms like “escort” and “prostitute.” That’s obviously not something you would like to be associated with your name, so the wife of former German president Christian Wulff has now, according to Germany’s Süddeutschen Zeitung, decided to sue Google for defamation. The reason why these terms appear in Google’s autocomplete is that there have been persistent rumors that Wulff worked for an escort service before she met her husband. Wulff categorically denies that this is true.

Google Charges Retailers to Appear on Shopping Site - NYTimes.com
The shift to paid listings on Google Shopping began this summer and will be complete this fall. It is part of Google’s expanding e-commerce playbook, which also includes Wallet for payments, Offers for daily deals and the Google Shopper mobile app for finding items nearby. A search on the main Google site still shows search results from across the Web, which are never paid for, but it also brings up a box with product images, prices and descriptions that are paid for. If someone searches for a product on Google.com/shopping, all listings will be paid ones.

Twitter had moved to quash the government’s 2703 orders, but in July, Judge Sciarrino ordered Twitter to release the tweets and account information, ruling that Harris had no expectation of privacy in tweets that were published. “If you post a tweet, just like if you scream it out the window, there is no reasonable expectation of privacy,” Sciarrino wrote in his decision. “There is no proprietary interest in your tweets, which you have now gifted to the world.”
