Cable Companies: Google Threatens Net Neutrality, Not Us - NationalJournal.com
But in a filing to the FCC, Time Warner Cable claimed that the controversy over Internet providers potentially charging websites for access to special "fast lanes" is a "red herring." The real danger, the cable company claimed, is that Google or Netflix could demand payments from Internet providers. Customers expect access to the most popular websites, and an Internet provider may have little choice but to pay up.

Facebook, of course, has emerged from its days of racking up billions of members to become a very profitable public company. So one can forgive early believers like Andreessen for taking a few of victory laps, even if those laps are just short trots to the bank and back.

What Is Public? — The Message — Medium
Yet the last, loudest argument of the apologists for abusive exploitation of nominally public information is that “it’s technically legal!” It is, in fact, usually completely legal to be a total asshole about other people’s activity in “public” places. In fact, very few forms of harassment fall under the narrow confines of what legally constitutes harassment.

Treat traffic like a team sport. You gotta play the assist role. It's gonna help lessen the backups."

This new pilot program will likely be rolled out to Apple Stores later in 2014 after the initial kinks are worked out in the test markets, a source said. It’s also no coincidence that the program is rolling out just ahead of the iPhone 6 launch in September. As part of Tim Cook’s plan to dramatically boost iPhone sales in his own stores, Cook does not want to miss any iPhone 6 sales opportunities in Apple Stores, and supporting the latest carrier upgrade programs will help ensure that. Apple will be introducing a 4.7-inch iPhone around mid-September, with a larger 5.5-inch model to hit the market later this year.
