Netflix Now Officially Bigger Than Comcast: Online Video News «
In the first quarter, Netflix added 3.6 million subscribers, ending the period with more than 23.6 million subscribers in total. That was up 69 percent from the 14 million subscribers it had a year ago. To put that in context: Comcast ended 2010 with 22.8 million pay TV subscribers. While it’s always possible the cable company could report subscriber additions in the first quarter, it’s unlikely to do so, given its declines over the last several quarters.

Dropbox Attempts To Kill Open Source Project | Razor Fast
The HN post linked to a blog post about an open source project called Dropship that allows users to exploit Dropbox’s file hashing scheme to copy files into their account without actually having them. Dropship will save the hashes of a file in JSON format. Anyone can then take these hashes and load the original file into their Dropbox account using Dropship.

Big Tech Blog Says It Has Big Conflicts
"I'll be a direct or indirect investor in a lot of the new startups in Silicon Valley, and that will mean that there will be financial conflicts of interests in a lot of my stories," writes TechCrunch editor and founder Mike Arrington in a blog post about his new investment policy, crafted to help cope with a slew of new investments he's making around Silicon Valley. "Either because I write about those companies, or write about a competitor, or don't write about a competitor." Arrington added that TechCrunch will sometimes have to sit on stories when he's considering, but has not yet closed, investment deals. Arrington says "I think that this will all be fine," because he plans to disclose everything.
