Zwischen 10. Mai und 21. Juni 1933 wurden im Zuge der von der nationalsozialistischen Deutschen Studentenschaft organisierten Aktion „Wider den undeutschen Geist“ an vielen Orten in Deutschland öffentliche Bücherverbrennungen durchgeführt. Grundlage für die Auswahl der zu verbrennenden Werke bildeten so genannte „Schwarze Listen“ des Bibliothekars Wolfgang Herrmann, nach denen Studenten und andere Hochschulangehörige „verbrennungswürdige“ Literatur in Universitätsbibliotheken, Leihbüchereien und Buchhandlungen für die Verbrennungen aussonderten.……
