Gluten Causes Low Thyroid, Slowed Metabolism, Accelerated Aging, & Slow Healing
Metabolism is the sum of two things. Metabolism equals catabolism plus anabolism. If these are new words for you, catabolism, these are chemical reactions that break things down, break down where anabolic or anabolism is chemical reactions that build.
Remember that your body is in constant breaking down and building mode. So the sum of the quantity of how much you break down old tissue to replace it with new tissue, this is anabolic response and catabolic response. They kind of seesaw back and forth. If you only had reactions that were building you'd get cancer and you die. If you only had reactions that would break you down, your body would do it all the way to nothing. So there's a balance when you have old skin cells, you know, your skin is brand new about every 28 days. So what happens? How do we get rid of old skin cells?
We have catabolic reactions that break those old cells down, and then we have anabolic reactions that help to come in and build new skin cells. And that's why when we have a slower metabolism, we actually slow down the body's ability to heal. And it's not just skin.
