The Effect of Aloe Vera on the Healing of Diabetic Foot Ulcer: A Randomized, Double-blind Clinical Trial - PubMed
These findings are promising and suggest that Aloe vera may be a safe and effective adjunctive treatment for diabetic foot ulcers. However, further research is needed to confirm these results and to investigate the underlying mechanisms of aloe vera's therapeutic effect on diabetic foot ulcers.

Aloe vera has a long history of popular and traditional use. It is used in traditional Indian medicine for constipation, colic, skin diseases, worm infestation, and infections (Heber 2007). It is also used in Trinidad and Tobago for hypertension (Lans 2006) and among Mexican Americans for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM; Coronado et al. 2004). In Chinese medicine, it is often recommended in the treatment of fungal diseases (Heber 2007). In Western society, Aloe vera is one of the few herbal medicines in common usage, and it has found widespread use in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and food industries. In the case of health, the therapeutic claims for the topical and oral application of Aloe vera cover a wide range of conditions, but few claims have been the subject of robust clinical investigation. The conditions for which clinical trials of Aloe vera have been conducted include skin conditions, management of burn and wound healing, constipation, DM, and gastrointestinal disorders.

Aloe vera Gel Ameliorates Fat-Rich and High Fructose (FRHF) Diet-Induced Pancreatic and Splenic Damage in Mice | Borneo Journal of Pharmacy
High-fat diet alone or in combination with high fructose has been known to induce diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and immune dysfunction. The study evaluates the role of Aloe vera in fat-rich and high fructose diet-induced (FRHFD) hyperglycemias in addition to testicular and splenic morphology in mice. Twenty BALB/c Mice were randomly distributed into four groups (n=5). The groups were fed on a normal diet, FRHFD, FRHFD + 10 g Aloe vera , and FRHFD + 20 g Aloe vera for 10 weeks. All the mice were sacrificed a day after the 10 weeks of treatment. The result showed that mice fed on FRHFD plus Aloe vera had a significantly lower (p

Pesticide exposure can pose a serious risk to nontarget animals. Cartap is being broadly used in agricultural fields. The toxic effects of cartap on the levels of hepatotoxicity and neurotoxicity have not been properly studied in mammalian systems. Therefore, the present work focused on the effect of cartap on the liver and brain of Wistar rats and made an assessment of the ameliorating potential of A. vera. The experimental animals were divided into 4 groups, comprising six rats in each: Group 1—Control; Group 2—A. vera; Group 3—Cartap; and Group 4—A. vera + Cartap. The animals orally given cartap and A. vera were sacrificed after 24 h of the final treatment and histological and biochemical investigations were conducted in liver and brain of Wistar rats. Cartap at sublethal concentrations caused substantial decreases in CAT, SOD, and GST levels in the experimental rats. The activity levels of transaminases and phosphatases in cartap group were also found to be substantially altered. The AChE activity was recorded as decreasing in RBC membrane and brain of the cartap-treated animals. The TNF-α and IL-6 level in serum were increased expressively in the cartap challenged groups. Histological investigation of liver showed disorganized hepatic cords and severely congested central veins due to cartap. However, the A. vera extract was observed to significantly protect against the effects of cartap toxicity. The protective impact of A. vera against cartap toxicity may be due to the existence of antioxidants in it. These findings suggest that A. vera may be developed as a potential supplement to the appropriate medication in the treatment of cartap toxicity.

The Protective Effects of Aloe Vera Gel Extract on the Sexual Tissue Damage Caused by Diabetes in Male Rats
The Protective Effects of Aloe Vera Gel Extract on the Sexual Tissue Damage Caused by Diabetes in Male Rats
Introduction: Diabetics usually suffer from chronic complications, including microvascular and macrovascular disorders. The capillaries supplying the sexual organs affect normal sexual functions. The erectile process has been shown to be impaired in diabetics. Vascular damage in diabetics may be associated with decreased testosterone production, sperm count, testicular weight, and seminiferous tubule diameter. In this study, we investigated the effects of Aloe vera gel extract (from Sistan and Baluchistan in Iran) on male genital in streptozocin-induced diabetic rats. Methods: Of twenty-four male Wistar rats, diabetes was induced in 12 rats by intraperitoneal injection of a single dose of STZ. The rats were divided into four groups. The first and third groups received saline (NaCl) daily by gavage. The second and fourth groups received aloe vera gel extract daily by gavage. The treatments were continued for 30 days. At the end of the treatment period, blood samples were collected and serum glucose and testosterone levels were measured by photometric methods. Histological examinations were performed on the prostate and testes. Results: Mean weight index, serum levels of glucose and testosterone, mean sperm count, germline thickness, and seminiferous tubule diameter improved significantly in the diabetes +Aloe vera group. Conclusion: We concluded that consumption of Aloe vera gel extract improved sexual complications in type 1 diabetic rats.
