Generative AI and Postsecondary Instructional Practices - Ithaka S+R
Generative AI and Postsecondary Instructional Practices - Ithaka S+R
Understanding how instructors are (or are not) using generative AI in their classrooms is vital because most college and university guidelines leave decision making about how, when, and if generative AI use is permitted to the discretion of individual instructors. To gain insight into evolving instructional practices, we included a short four-question section dedicated specifically to generative AI as part of a national survey of instructors.

How to Use GenAI to Prepare for Your Next Job Interview
How to Use GenAI to Prepare for Your Next Job Interview
A large proportion of recruiters are using generative artificial intelligence tools (or GenAI) to source interview questions. As a job candidate, you can go to the same source to gain a competitive advantage. Here are some easy ways to leverage GenAI ahead of your next job interview to set yourself up for success. Gather intel on the company culture. GenAI can provide you with quick and easy intel to assess the employee experience at different firms. Prior to your interview, ask ChatGPT, or another GenAI tool, to provide you with the pros and cons of the company you’re interviewing at. Unpack keywords and skills in the job description. Choose a few keywords or skills, and ask GenAI to tell you a little more about what companies generally look for when analyzing them. When crafting your answers to potential interview questions, use that information to demonstrate why you’re a good match for the role. Get guidance on interview questions, and how to answer them. You can ask GenAI what kind of interview questions are most common, how to best answer them, and what a hiring manager would typically try to assess. You can also ask about what mistakes you should try to avoid, as well as best practices for interview etiquette. Hold mock interview sessions. Some GenAI tools are designed to hold mock interview simulations, in which GenAI plays the role of an interviewer or interviewee. Others, such as ChatGPT, can evaluate your answers to interview questions and provide you with generic feedback.

AI Instructional Design Must Be More Than a Time Saver
This post is the seventh and final essay in the Beyond ChatGPT series about generative AI’s impact on learning. A recap and next steps is forthcoming. For this final post, I’m going to focus on modeling ethical usage of AI with students by being transparent when we us AI in instructional design. Few seems to be doing this in education.

Earlier this year I went on a Disney cruise with my extended family. Seasickness aside, another notable experience was the dining: a sit-down dinner each night with a full menu - appetizers, soups, salads, mains, light mains, bread service, desserts, no-sugar desserts, after-tinis.
