Risperidone-associated enuresis—a case report - Middle East Current Psychiatry
Background Risperidone has been reported to be effective in treating both the positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia, aggression, and behavioral disorders. While the metabolic side effect profile of this medication has been broadly studied, studies related to this medication’s bladder effects are relatively rare. We present a case of risperidone-induced enuresis in an adult male with schizophrenia that resolved upon discontinuation of the offending medication. Case presentation We describe a case of a 32-year-old man with a primary psychotic disorder who developed debilitating enuresis secondary to taking risperidone. Enuresis resolved upon switching to Seroquel. Conclusion Enuresis secondary to risperidone is not commonly discussed prior to initiation by the treating psychiatrist however can be debilitating. Discussing this potential side effect is critical to informed decision making on the patient’s part.

Buying your first bidet is exciting. Perhaps you’ve just traveled overseas (is traveling still a thing?) or a friend turned you on to one. Once you use a Bidet it really is hard to suffer in the stone age with archaic cleaning tools like toilet paper. Before you make a purchase there’s a few things you should know.
1.) Toilet fit
Before purchasing your bidet you need to know what kind of toilet you have. You most likely have either a round or an elongated toilet design. Most Bidets come with these 2 options to choose from. Choose wisely to select the Bidet that fits correctly. Elongated bidets are built longer and there will be a good part of the Bidet hanging over your toilet if it is round.
2.) Electronic vs non electronic
If you’re looking to save money there are Bidets out there that will do just that. Non electric bidets offer the bare bones features of a Bidet. They connect into your existing water supply and spray water (at whatever temperature the water is coming out of your pipes.) These simple Bidets lack features like warm water, heated seats, warm air dryers, etc. Electronic Bidets have all the bells and whistles – at a price.
3.) Tank vs tankless
Many homeowners and bidet enthusiasts opt for the electronic Bidet for many reasons. They offer every creature comfort you can think of at a touch of a button. The most popular feature of the electronic bidet is the warm water options. Bidets like the Bio Bidet BB-2000 offer a range of temperatures to choose from. However, some Bidets offer only a limited amount of hot water. These Bidets have a reservoir tank that must be filled and heated before supplying warm/hot water. Other Bidets are tankless and can supply continuous warm water as long as you want. Tankless Bidets are much more costly, but this is a feature many won’t compromise on. Especially if multiple people are using the Bidet, the on demand hot water ensures nobody will have to wait for warm water!
4.) Remote or not?
Some Bidet users including myself prefer to operate the Bidet with a remote control. Many Bidets do not offer a remote control option and include all the controls on a built in control panel. This requires you to reach over to operate the settings. A remote control gives you instant access to all the features of a Bidet and mounts right on the wall.
5.) Warranty options
Warranty is a big one. Depending on the Bidet, warranty can range anywhere from 1 – 4 years. The Cascade 3000 for example is currently the only Bidet with a whopping 4 year warranty. Most fall in to the 1 – 2 year range. It’s no surprise the Cascade 3000 is one of the most reliable Bidets, as backed up by the 4 year warranty. Having your Bidet break down outside of a year is a miserable experience, and does happen.
