! + Meeting of the COVID-19 Giants with Geert Vanden Bossche and Robert Malone MD - YouTube
Tremendous privilege for me to host the first live discussion between two stalwarts in the COVID-19 pandemic. Both men have taken an ethical stand to focus on science and not be afraid to share their expertise.
The world now stands at a crossroads again. Where do we plant our next step?
Geert Vanden Bossche - Expert vaccine developer (Belgium)
Robert Malone MD - Inventor of mRNA vaccines (USA)

The BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 reprograms both adaptive and innate immune responses medRxiv
The mRNA-based BNT162b2 vaccine from Pfizer/BioNTech was the first registered COVID-19 vaccine and has been shown to be up to 95% effective in preventing SARS-CoV-2 infections. Little is known about the broad effects of the new class of mRNA vaccines, especially whether they have combined effects on innate and adaptive immune responses. Here we confirmed that BNT162b2 vaccination of healthy individuals induced effective humoral and cellular immunity against several SARS-CoV-2 variants. Interestingly, however, the BNT162b2 vaccine also modulated the production of inflammatory cytokines by innate immune cells upon stimulation with both specific (SARS-CoV-2) and non-specific (viral, fungal and bacterial) stimuli. The response of innate immune cells to TLR4 and TLR7/8 ligands was lower after BNT162b2 vaccination, while fungi-induced cytokine responses were stronger. In conclusion, the mRNA BNT162b2 vaccine induces complex functional reprogramming of innate immune responses, which should be considered in the development and use of this new class of vaccines. ### Competing Interest Statement M.G.N and L.A.B.J are scientific founders of Trained Therapeutix and Discovery. ### Clinical Trial EudraCT 2021-000182-33 ### Funding Statement Y.L. was supported by an ERC Starting Grant (#948207) and the Radboud University Medical Centre Hypatia Grant (2018) for Scientific Research. Research has identified a link between celiac disease and liver disease. One large study compared the risk of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease diagnosed from 1997-2009 in over 26,000 individuals with celiac disease to over 130,000 matched reference individuals. Patients with any liver disease prior to celiac disease were excluded, as were individuals with a lifetime diagnosis of alcohol-related disorder to minimize misclassification of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. The study found that individuals with celiac disease are at increased risk of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease compared to the general population. Excess risks were highest in the first year after celiac disease diagnosis, but persisted through 15 years beyond diagnosis with celiac disease.
Another study compared 202 celiac disease patients and 202 control patients and found that more than one-third of CD patients adhering to a GFD had concurrent NAFL, accounting for a three-fold increased risk compared to the general population. Interestingly, this study also found that the relative risk for NAFL was notably higher in non-overweight celiac disease patients
