There is a lot of misinformation on the Internet regarding the differences between MCT oil and coconut oil. Is MCT oil better than coconut oil, as many bloggers today would like you to believe? How can a product that has the most famous and most dominant medium chain fatty acid (lauric acid) removed from the original product be considered "better"? How many people realize that "MCT oil" is simply a by-product of coconut oil after the more valuable lauric acid has been removed?
Frontiers Effects of the Brown Seaweed Laminaria japonica Supplementa (...)
The intestinal microbial communities play critical roles in various aspects of body function of the host. Prebiotics, such as dietary fiber, can affect health of the host by altering the composition of intestinal microbiota. Although brown seaweed Laminaria japonica is rich in dietary fiber, studies on its prebiotic potential are quite rare. In this study, basal diet (control), basal diet supplemented with dried L. japonica (DLJ), heat-treated dried L. japonica (HLJ), or heated dried L. japonica with added fructooligosaccharide (FHLJ) was fed to rats for 16 weeks. Serum concentrations of IgG, triglyceride, and cholesterol were measured. In addition, the intestinal microbiota composition was analyzed by high-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA gene. As compared to the control group, DLJ, HLJ, and FHLJ groups showed significantly higher serum IgG concentration, but had lower weight gain and serum triglyceride concentration. Moreover, DLJ, HLJ, and FHLJ groups showed lower Fimicutes to Bacteroidetes ratio when compared with the control group. As compared with the control group, obesity-associated bacterial genera (Allobaculum, Turicibacter, Coprobacillus, Mollicute, and Oscilibacter), and the genera with pathogenic potentials (Mollicute, Bacteroides, Clostridium, Escherichia, and Prevotella) decreased while leanness-associated genera (Alistipes, Bacteroides, and Prevotella), and lactic acid bacterial genera (Subdoligranulum, Streptococcus, Lactobacillus, Enterococcus, and Bifid...

Mitochondria a new therapeutic target in chronic kidney disease Nutri (...)
Cellular metabolic changes during chronic kidney disease (CKD) may induce higher production of oxygen radicals that play a significant role in the progression of renal damage and in the onset of important comorbidities. This condition seems to be in part related to dysfunctional mitochondria that cause an increased electron “leakage” from the respiratory chain during oxidative phosphorylation with a consequent generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS).ROS are highly active molecules that may oxidize proteins, lipids and nucleic acids with a consequent damage of cells and tissues. To mitigate this mitochondria-related functional impairment, a variety of agents (including endogenous and food derived antioxidants, natural plants extracts, mitochondria-targeted molecules) combined with conventional therapies could be employed. However, although the anti-oxidant properties of these substances are well known, their use in clinical practice has been only partially investigated. Additionally, for their correct utilization is extremely important to understand their effects, to identify the correct target of intervention and to minimize adverse effects. Therefore, in this manuscript, we reviewed the characteristics of the available mitochondria-targeted anti-oxidant compounds that could be employed routinely in our nephrology, internal medicine and renal transplant centers. Nevertheless, large clinical trials are needed to provide more definitive information about their use and to assess their overall efficacy or toxicity.

Fulvic Acid Attenuates Resistin-Induced Adhesion of HCT-116 Colorectal Cancer Cells to Endothelial Cells. - PubMed - NCBI
A high level of serum resistin has recently been found in patients with a number of cancers, including colorectal cancer (CRC). Hence, resistin may play a role in CRC development. Fulvic acid (FA), a class of humic substances, possesses pharmacological properties. However, the effect of FA on cancer …

Sodium, potassium, and magnesium bicarbonate are miracle medicines not because of any mumbo jumbo but because of hard medical science, medical history, and basic physiology. It continues to be a medical tragedy that the least expensive, most widely available safe, and effective medicine is overlooked. However, no matter what anyone says or thinks about sodium... Possible Prophylaxes of Aloe Vera Gel to Congenital Heart Disease Case Reports Yagi Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Research
Our health span is to a great extent epigenetically determined by diets, gut environment, lifestyle, and various other environmental factors. Health benefits of long-term ingestion of aloe vera gel with immune modulation of the intestinal microbiota were discussed on congenital heart disease and heart failure. In this review, we demonstrated prophylaxes roles of successive ingestion of aloe vera juice on heart failure. Furthermore we presented three case reports on heart failure patients with aloe vera juice adjuvant.
Diabetic kidney disease is the most common cause of end-stage kidney disease and poses a major global health problem. Finding new, safe, and practical strategies to halt this disease has proven to be challenging for mainstream medicine because their aversion to natural medicine prevents them from understanding the underlying causes. In this essay, we will... View Article
Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) - Most Necessary Effective Medicine on Earth
Sodium Bicarbonate (NaHCO3) commonly called baking soda is a natural substance used in the human body within the bloodstream to regulate pH as a counterbalance to acid build up. Bicarbonate affects the pH of cells and tissues, balances cell voltage, and increases CO2 which helps with oxygenation.

Activation of NK cells in male cancer survivors by fucoidan extracted from Cladosiphon okamuranus
Cancer survivors are highly motivated to seek information about the use of dietary supplements and complementary nutritional therapies to improve their quality of life. Fucoidan, a sulfated polysaccharide extracted from brown marine alga, exhibits a wide range of bioactivities, including anticancer activity. As natural killer (NK) cells serve an important role in defenses against tumor cells, the present study examined the effects of fucoidan extracted from Cladosiphon Okamuranus on NK cell activity in cancer survivors. A prospective, open‑label clinical study was conducted on cancer survivors treated with fucoidan via oral administration; 11 cancer survivors with a performance status of 0 or 1 participated and consumed 3 g of fucoidan for 6 months. No significant changes were observed in the mean activities of NK cells in total subjects following the ingestion of fucoidan. An analysis of each sex revealed that NK cell activity was significantly increased by the ingestion of fucoidan in male, yet not female subjects. Serum fucoidan levels were markedly increased following the ingestion of fucoidan and the peak levels ranged between 30 and 198 ng/ml. Tumor markers remained within the reference range during the trial period in subjects, in whom primary tumors were eradicated by treatment. The basal values of tumor markers were elevated in three cases; tumor markers were increased in two cases and decreased in one by the ingestion of fucoidan. These findings suggest that fucoidan enhances the activation of NK cells in male cancer survivors.
Removal, Bioleaching and Detoxification of Heavy Metals by Aloe vera as Phytoremediation Case Report Suppression of Gall Bladder Hypertrophy and Ureteral Stone Yagi
Decontamination of air, soil, and water polluted with dangerous mercury, cadmium, arsenic, and chromium by plants is called phytoremediation. As a living plant, Aloe vera was used to clean up the soil, water and air contaminated with dangerous heavy metals and gas. Aloe vera plant and the waste powder occurred from aloe vera gel processing, were applied for phytoremediation in which Aloe vera was proposed as a cost-effective plant-based approach of environmental remediation. Bioleaching is a process of extracting metals from their ores through the use of living microorganisms. Endophytic bacteria in Aloe vera gel could be used as bioleaching of heavy metals. Furthermore the detoxification of heavy metals and hepato-therapeutic effects by Aloe vera was focused specially on hepatic fibrosis and chronic kidney diseases. Case reports showed the suppression of gall bladder hypertrophy and ureteral stone by aloe vera supplements.
